3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
UPDATED: DEC 26, 2012 Bottled. Rated this very low after my first taste, but re-rated after enjoying my second bottle so much more a number of months later. Pours a light amber colour with a reasonable, long lasting, white head and a very slight haze. Strong aroma dominated by pine resin plus a little grapefruit. The grapefruit is even more evident in the mouth, and there’s a clean, dry pine finish. Kudos to BrewDog for creating a distinctive, unique pale ale. Serve chilled.

4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
UPDATED: MAR 7, 2012 33cl bottle: Deliciously fresh and exotic hop aromas, mango, kiwi, white grapes. Orange-golden colour with a thick white head. Lovely balanced flavour, some muscatel grape and subtle maltiness with a lingering fruity bitterness. Can’t remember enough about the previous 6% version to compare the two, but I remember I liked it a lot too. Great, refreshing and easy-drinking IPA.

4.6 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 19/20
I cannot be impartial to this beer, as this is one of the reasons I got into craft beer drinking. This was my first encounter with Nelson Sauvin hops and to this day I smile every time I raise the glass to my mouth. This is a fresh, beautiful, balanced easily drinkable IPA with a great character. The hoppiness is massive, but not overwhelming, so that you can easily enjoy 3-4 pints (although I think the 2/3 pint is a better measure for drinking this).

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle, from Vinmonopolet. Clear, pale orange color. Nice, slightly fluffy head. Amazing hop aroma with sweet pineapple, peach, mango, caramel. Lots of citrusy hop flavors, pineapple, mango, a hint of nuts. Nice mouthfeel, rather lively carbonation. Slightly on the bitter side of the scale, with some background sweetness to balance it out. Quite wonderful!

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Punk pours out a bright yellowish orange body with a finger of thick and sticky yellow head. Thick lines of sticky lacing and some carbonation in the body. Amazing nose with tons of tropical fruit notes and a nice grapefruit forward hop aroma. Not much of a malt noticed on the note. I love those Nelson Sauvin fruits. The taste is sweet and has a medium resinous smack. A bunch of tropical fruits and medium honey sweetness in the middle. The finish has a moderately well hopped bitterness and nice resinous. A medium body with a simply beautiful fruity, hoppy taste.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
I compared this to the slightly higher ABV and older version of this brew. Lots of the similarities. Grapefruit and a touch of resin in the aroma. Passion fruit, grassy bitterness, peaches. Light to medium body, average carbonation. Bitter medium-long duration. Slick body and sticky mouthfeel. Nicely bitter, but…. It seems a bit dumbed down. Why was the recipe changed? Are they trying to please the masses? I think the 6% version was much better and bolder. A good IPA but why mess with a good thing?
