This fresh, full flavour natural beer is our tribute to the classic IPAs of yester-year. The post modern twist is the addition of amazing fruity hops giving an explosion of tropical fruit flavours and a sharp bitter finish.

pours a dark golden colour with about a finger of head. Lots of tropical fruits in the aroma, smells fresh and uplifting. Taste has a nice bitey bitterness up front that mellows quickly into mango, pineapple and then lime flavours, malt is well balanced in what is a hop driven pale. The medium body is somewhat creamier than a lot of pales ive had, with a lively carbonation, really nice! Fairly bitter, pleasant finish. good beer.

Poured from 11.2 oz from a Trader Joe’s 4 pack, best by 7-2-15. which is a long way off in the future! Cloudy golden with a huge dirty off white head, flowery nose, on the sweet side. Taste is mostly bitter, with a bit of sweetness. Not super fresh, would be curious to see when it was actually bottled, and then TJ’s is not known for proper storage. Medium-light bodied, a bit slick and oily in the mouth. Not too bad, but not as good as I like in my IPA’s.

Cloudy gold. Fruity hops on the nose. Taste- luscious fruits. Mango, apple and pineapple. Refreshing. Very low hops for an IPA. Interesting...in a good way. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

The nose is soft, juicy tropical fruits, light sweetness, brioche, candied peel, dough and light floral notes. The taste is crisp, bitter, juicy, a whole host of tropical goodness, light peppery, lemon peel, light grassy/floral stuff and earth with a dry, bitter finish. Medium body and moderate carbonation. Clean, crisp and crushable.

Bottled from local supermarket. Clear golden colored, small head. Beautiful hoppy nose, very fruity (tropical), pine. Pretty one-dimensional hopbitter flavor, no malts, hardly any restsugars. When tasted blind i would have probably thought this was a session IPA, it’s very watery and simple.

330 ml bottle bought at CitySuper in Harbour City, Tsim Sha Tsui during October’s “Beer Festival” promotion.

Translucent dull amber honey with no yeast particles; Razor-thin head and residual soapy off-white foam which fades in 10 seconds; Minimal sticky lacing with barely detectable slight carbonation; Fragrant and sweet aroma of Ale malt, with light grapefruit, light pineapple, passion fruits, light jackfruits, strong floral nectar, strong molasses, light pine light lime and grass; Light sweet taste of light Ale malt, with light grapefruit and lemon zest, light molasses, strong pine, resin, strong earth, biscuits, lime, quite strong bitter hops and very sharp grass; Light body, thin and slightly slick palate; Mouth feel is quite thin Ale malt base. Low sweetness with quite strong hop elements - not light on citrus zest but strong on pine, resin, and earth. Quite a treat, not bad… Hoppiness is taste as above, plus expressive floral nectar, sweet passion fruits, pineapple and tropical fruits in aroma. Bitterness is, ironically, not as sharp nor potent as the Dead Pony Club I had yesterday. Perhaps only the Simcoe stands up for a rather timid mid-level bitterness for a lasting, close to middle astringent finish. Not very impressive; Slightly dry after taste. Hoppy and piney to mouth.

Comments: The best I can say about this one is the rather flowery and tropical fruity aroma, and for that I have to sniff pretty hard for it. Taste-wise the various hops are in short supplies and the overall palate is passable but not something longlasting. Seems like BrewDog is stoogey with the hops and while it’s easily drinkable and sessionable, this ain’t top stuff.

One of my favourite beers whether from bottle or the local BrewDog bar in Nottingham. Just an amazing explosion of floral, citrus, piney hops with a lovely bitter and dry finish. Nose and taste both full and flavoursome. Malt definitely takes a back seat to the hops but such a tasty, easy-drinking beer. Not quite up there with Jack Hammer (or Libertine for that matter) but there are very few beers out there with the flavour, aroma and punch of this in the same price range. Makes me smile every time I crack open a bottle and take a sniff.

Clear amber beer with a residual suddy white head. Crispish palate, a little dry. Turns to a soft creamy malt base in the mouth - nice! Citric hoppy fresh orange and touches of grapefruit and lemon. Finishes semi dry and minerally with a long bitter aftertaste. Refreshing!

Consigliata

330ml bottle served in a pint glass. A: Pours a golden yellow to orange color. Clear. Forms a big bubbled and aired white head. Some lacings left S: Flowery hops, mainly. Very pine and pineapple in the nose. Sweet malts and caramel T: Sweet upfront. Sweet malts and American hops. Hops are very piny and citrus, probably Centennial and Chinook. Quite good overall bitterness M: Medium body and carbonation. Quite stingy hops bitter aftertaste O: Good drinkability. A Scott IPA with a very American accent. Great IPA [ BA Review @ 6/25/2010 ]
