COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Bottle and keg: Filtered. Cask: Unfiltered.
Ingredients: Marris Otter Extra Pale Malt; Chinook, Crystal, Motoeka hops. IBUs 65
A beer of inherent contradiction. This heavy weight of the beer world is strikingly delicate with a white gold appearance. The light fruity aroma dominates the initial confrontation; lychee, kiwi and passionfruit all prevail with subtle nuances of cherry and strawberry. Don’t be fooled however by this smooth medium bodied ale. As it trickles down your throat as this wolf in sheep’s clothing begins to grow teeth. The bite comes as the bitterness builds and endures no matter how hard the malty sweetness of the alcohol tries to tame this ferocious beast.

NOTE: The recipe was changed at the end of 2009, and this version is no longer made, if you have a bottle with a BBD after 1.1.12, you should go to the "Punk IPA (5.4%)" version.

Bottle poured this sweet vintage into dog fish snifter, beautiful hazy orange amber minimal head, notes on the nose are citrusy with light hops, bitter hops dominate the flavor, not an everyday drink but light and refreshing, very nice beer I solidly approve of this

330ml bottle pours a slightly cloudy golden orange color with a finger of white head that leaves a thin spotty lacing on the glass. Aromas of light fruits with some sweet malts and a floral hops. Taste is light fruits with a malty sweetness and a bold hoppy bitterness. Light to medium in body with some decent carbonation. A very enjoyable and tasty IPA.

Ottima come sempre, meno aroma rispetto a quella in lattina, piu’ amara e saporita in bottiglia! La preferisco!

Great aroma of grapefruit. Smooth mild taste of fruity citrus taste but not to bitter. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

It is a hoppy and strong IPA, very similar to proper stuff. However, they pasteurise it and keg it. What a shame.

Nice, citrusy hop flavour - although with a hint of something soapy or chemical (especially in the aftertaste). ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Awesome pour from the bottle. Golden orange with thin sticky head. Smells citrus and fruity. Taste is big and hard to describe. Dry and bitter aftertaste, upfront is somewhat banana and floral. Liked it a lot. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

11.2oz bottle, 6%ABV written twice with a best before date of 18/12/10 from Armanetti’s. So I just bought a super-old bottle that says this is best before the 18th of December, 2010??? Come on, Armanetti’s. Nonetheless, this is a retired beer...so I guess that’s kinda cool. Pours a cloudy, orange colored body with a finger-width, creamy, off-white head that dissipates slowly and leaves a nice lacing throughout. Aroma is honey sweetened caramel malts with some bread. Florals and a touch of orange-grass. Flavor is much better. Lots of lemon-grass with some floral hops and a honey sweetened caramel malt backing with a light bready toffee. Finishes fairly bitter, but well balanced with a solid malt backing before this dries and leaves a lengthy aftertaste. Medium body and a moderate carbonation. This still drinks pretty nicely. Overall, I guess I can’t blame the brewery for this bottle being old (unless they shipped an old batch to Chicago) when I expected a fresher version (rather than something brewed with a best by date in 2010). The aroma is forgettable, but the flavor still provides a nice, grassy bitterness and a solid, honey sweetened malt backing. Despite the age, this wasn’t bad at all. I blame the slightly lower score on the liquor store (Armanetti’s).

Gold pour, white head. Herbal and grassy hops with a light crackery note. Flavor is grassy and caramel. Not bad.
