COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Bottle and keg: Filtered. Cask: Unfiltered.
Ingredients: Marris Otter Extra Pale Malt; Chinook, Crystal, Motoeka hops. IBUs 65
A beer of inherent contradiction. This heavy weight of the beer world is strikingly delicate with a white gold appearance. The light fruity aroma dominates the initial confrontation; lychee, kiwi and passionfruit all prevail with subtle nuances of cherry and strawberry. Don’t be fooled however by this smooth medium bodied ale. As it trickles down your throat as this wolf in sheep’s clothing begins to grow teeth. The bite comes as the bitterness builds and endures no matter how hard the malty sweetness of the alcohol tries to tame this ferocious beast.

NOTE: The recipe was changed at the end of 2009, and this version is no longer made, if you have a bottle with a BBD after 1.1.12, you should go to the "Punk IPA (5.4%)" version.

Even though this beer is retired the best before printed on the bottle is September 2012 so still peak season for this bottle. This beer pours a very slightly hazy golden yellow. It’s only cloudy compared to a simple pilsner like Budweiser. This light and refreshing, fairly heavily carbonated beer has citrus undertones and a surprisingly low amount of hops for the IPA label. This is a decent summer beer but nothing exceptional. Probably Brewdogs most basic beer.

Bottled, BB 12-29-11, 6%. Poured hazy medium golden with a nice cap of white head. The aroma picked up sweet bready and pale malts topped by broken-down floral and peachy hops.. came across quite malty (no big surprise), but it worked. The flavor found mostly bready malts at the core.. a little biscuit too.. moderate grassy and peppery bitterness around.. finished more peppery over biscuity notes. Medium-bodied and a tad grainy on the palate.. past its time, but it was still an enjoyable drink.

"I bought this from The Beverage King in Lebanon, NH. Paid about $8 for it. It was the last one on the shelf. I got home and realized the label: Batch 428, Best Before 29-12-11. I’m 1 month too late on the best by date. My review takes in account that this beer is no longer fresh. However, I don’t mind a beer that’s not so fresh given it’s retired. I’m pretty excited to try it. Poured into a Dogfish Head Signature glass at around 40 Degrees F A - It pours a hazy yellow pour. This is a super cloudy beer. 1.5 finger head that is the same color as the beer. S - I smell some sort of candy. Like a caramel candy corn. There’s a lot of honey. This beer smells very sweet. T - Mild carbonation. I can certainly tell that this beer is not as fresh as it good be but it’s surprisingly good. Most of the heat and carbonation has faded and a lot of honey and syrup notes are left over. There’s something off about it but it is 1 month beyond its best by date. M - The mouthfeel is overall pretty weak but I won’t penalize it though. Honestly, I can tell how this was a pretty damn fine beer but the age of it is just not becoming. O - I’d like to have this again. It’s a nice solid IPA. 6% is a very manageable ABV and it’s not over the top bitter. Nice job, Brew Dog."

Golden, small head. Grapefruit, both aroma and taste. Bitter, some fruitiness. A decent and fresh IPA.

33cl bottle. Pours bright orange/gold with medium white head. Tropical fruit aromas - passionfruit & mango especially. Pungent hops at the forefront, Passionfruit in the taste too, decent malt balance, bit of interesting zing that flickers through. A very decent brew. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Picked up today. Not notice the best before 8/25/11 but the resulting flavor was still good. Opaque gold pour. Light citrus aroma and something weird that when reading the description I realize is lychee. Those are good in a Thai dessert. Flavor is bitter, malty and fruity. Carbonation is higher.

bottle. pretty solid. has an unique IPA style that is common to brewdog - quite different from the American IPA styles I’m accustomed to.

Bottle. Pale yellow. Hoppy but less so than the 5.6. I used to prefer this to the new one at the changeover. I don’t any more. Much more bitterness. Less hop flavour.
