COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Bottle and keg: Filtered. Cask: Unfiltered.
Ingredients: Marris Otter Extra Pale Malt; Chinook, Crystal, Motoeka hops. IBUs 65
A beer of inherent contradiction. This heavy weight of the beer world is strikingly delicate with a white gold appearance. The light fruity aroma dominates the initial confrontation; lychee, kiwi and passionfruit all prevail with subtle nuances of cherry and strawberry. Don’t be fooled however by this smooth medium bodied ale. As it trickles down your throat as this wolf in sheep’s clothing begins to grow teeth. The bite comes as the bitterness builds and endures no matter how hard the malty sweetness of the alcohol tries to tame this ferocious beast.

NOTE: The recipe was changed at the end of 2009, and this version is no longer made, if you have a bottle with a BBD after 1.1.12, you should go to the "Punk IPA (5.4%)" version.

Crystal-clear golden hue. Creamy stark-white head deposits ample lace as it slowly settles. Sophisticatedly complex hop aromatics showcase a vibrant assortment of nectarine, melon, tangerine, herbs, flowers and wood. Dab of crackery malt offers teasing hints. Feathery carbonation graces the palate. Forceful hop bitterness wastes no time in assaulting the palate with its semi-brash earthiness entwined with lemon zest, pinewood, and black pepper. Very tight and compact, initially, yet remarkably soft and succulent. Seriously refined melon- and flowery-hop flavors swiftly emerge to mirror that of the bitterness. Flavorful hops manage to keep the oiliness at bay despite their subtle nature, though the oils still manage to impart their staunch bitterness which stimulates the appetite, immediately beckoning you to take another sip. Drinkability is through the roof. Malt remains steady in its subtlety, throughout, providing just enough body while continually gently expressing its suggestive crackery notions. Hints of pie crust, straw and toasted dough, as well. Quite appetizing and quenching due to the clean malt extraction, crisply mineralic body and succulent and sparklingly clean hop flavors. Finishes moistly dry with a well-integrated composition of lemon zest, aniseed and a lingering trail of creamy malt. Delicate hop burps yield an awesome blend of lemon verbena, flowers and melon. Stunning! Had I sampled this blindly, I’d have pegged it for a pilsner, as it’s quite spicy, snappy, appetizing, dryish, and with a hop profile that’s just as bitter as it is explosively flavorful. Would absolutely love to try this unfiltered and naturally carbonated.

Una IPA en toda su fuerza, con un paladar y una apariencia q rozan la perfección. La amargura esta ahí, balanceada, con notas frutales ligeras. El aroma se queda corto de intensidad para una cerveza con tanto potencial.

Best beer in the UK! Sort of hard to find in the states but well worth the money spent. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

0,33 flaske. Nydelig humlearoma. Stor munnfylde preget av bl.a citrus og kiwi. En superlettdrikkelig pale ale. Farlig god.

Cerveza de un bonito color ámbar dorado, aroma cítrico, sabor amargo bien balaceado con la malta. Para mi gusto, mejora en barril.

Light orange colour with medium whithe head, looks ok. Average body, carbonation, and bitternes for a beer like this. Basically refreshing and hoppy, slightly fruity, but subtle. Good.

Yellow golden with a white course foam. Mild flower in the aroma with a hint of lemon. medium body medium carbon. Mild malty fruit taste with a mild bitter aftertaste that lasts and magnifies. A really good IPA

Brown 330ml bottle, best before 15th Aug 2009, drank late April 2009 during a ’Pale Ale’ tasting day at my house, with just me tasting. Poured vigorously into a Hoegaarden Grand Cru stemmed tulip glass. Dull orange and misty body, white thin head that stuck to the glass more than it stuck to the beer! Hops and Oranges in the aroma, was the colour clouding my nose? Definately the sweeter end of the citrus fruit range of smells, so Oranges it is, although it could have been Pink Grapefruit I suppose. The aforementioned Pink Grapefruit aroma is very evident in the taste, tangy, sharp and on the sour side compared to the smell. An interesting taste and not unpleasant. The 6% alcohol is well hidden although it does appear as the mouth drys between gulps. There is also a dryness that comes very early in the mouthfeel, simular to when eating Grapefruit. The bitterness comes out as the mouth drys too. Luckily I like Grapefruits and fairly dry beers, so for me this was a good beer. I can see why some would shun it, but don’t, give it a try.

Possibly my favourite IPA of all time. Packs quite a kick! But there is no mistaking it for any other IPA. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
