COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Bottle and keg: Filtered. Cask: Unfiltered.
Ingredients: Marris Otter Extra Pale Malt; Chinook, Crystal, Motoeka hops. IBUs 65
A beer of inherent contradiction. This heavy weight of the beer world is strikingly delicate with a white gold appearance. The light fruity aroma dominates the initial confrontation; lychee, kiwi and passionfruit all prevail with subtle nuances of cherry and strawberry. Don’t be fooled however by this smooth medium bodied ale. As it trickles down your throat as this wolf in sheep’s clothing begins to grow teeth. The bite comes as the bitterness builds and endures no matter how hard the malty sweetness of the alcohol tries to tame this ferocious beast.

NOTE: The recipe was changed at the end of 2009, and this version is no longer made, if you have a bottle with a BBD after 1.1.12, you should go to the "Punk IPA (5.4%)" version.

Batch 001, best before 01/01/09 (oops), bottle from my Secret Santa. Pours a slightly cloudy light gold with a small, foamy white head. Aroma is fruity, with some raisins and sweet malt. Flavor is sweet malt initially with a bitter citrus/fruity finish. Nice and drinkable even though it is a little past its prime. 7/4/8/4/14 (3.7/5)

Bottle Batch 004 Best Before 07/07/09. Earthly aroma rather bland. Hazy yellow body with small head even on aggressive pour. Some citrus trying to get my attention but malt holding it back. Moderate dryness on the palate. Not good for 9 bukeroos a bottle.

Lime and tea nose. Shimmering amber, thin white head, good lacing. Medium bodied, resinous, and pefumey. Harshly bitter celery and clover finish. There is a nice filling maltiness, but overly bitter and resinous.

Mostly clear gold with a thin white head. Slightly bitter, slightly malty. Much like an ESB or a Pale Ale with lots of English hop character.

This one poured a clear darker yellow color with a white head. Aroma was malty and sweet with nots of bittering hops. Flavor was malty, a fair amount of bitterness, but not much hop flavor.

330 ml bottle @ home. Rated @ 21.4.2009.
Pours an orange colour with a foamy white head. Malty aroma with only a hint of hops. However, the flavour is hop-driven with citrus and mild caramel notes. Medium bodied and a dry hoppy finish. An easy-to-drink IPA. No wonder they just keep making this again and again.

From a 750 bottle this poured a hazy golden color with a white head and fat white had and good lacing rings. Nose of citrus and floral hops, and tropical fruits. Good smooth mouthfeel. Flavor is nicely biter as befits this style and the finish is dry and bitter.

Pour is a hazy gold with a large white head. Aroma is lots of resiny hops with some citus in there. Flavor is again lots of resin hop with some citrus and biscuit malts. A decent beer but way to expensive just to try. I found this at half price and i would consider that a good deal.

Yellow beer with a big, fluffy white head. Light, fruity aroma of tangerine and berry. ( I don’t know what lychee and passionfruit smell like, but it could be this.) This strikes me a really light, with ton of lemon, lime, sweet grapefruit and some berry flavors. There is a hop burn, and a grassy finish, but there doesn’t seem to be any real body to this. Odd IPA.
