A beer of inherent contradiction. This heavy weight of the beer world is strikingly delicate with a white gold appearance. The light fruity aroma dominates the initial confrontation; lychee, kiwi and passionfruit all prevail with subtle nuances of cherry and strawberry. Don’t be fooled however by this smooth medium bodied ale. As it trickles down your throat as this wolf in sheep’s clothing begins to grow teeth. The bite comes as the bitterness builds and endures no matter how hard the malty sweetness of the alcohol tries to tame this ferocious beast.

NOTE: The recipe was changed at the end of 2009, and this version is no longer made, if you have a bottle with a BBD after 1.1.12, you should go to the "Punk IPA (5.4%)" version.

Allright, now I’m totally confused. I first had the Hardcore IPA ( http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/16315/41505 ) and that is their DIPA/IIPA. When I reviewed that I felt it was muted, soft, enjoyable, malty. Now I’m reviewing their standard IPA, my first assumption was it would be a sessionable version of their DIPA... but really this is hoppier then their DIPA. That’s odd. I’m getting hops/pine/citrus in the nose and a suprisingly bitter aftertaste along with a slightly watery mouthfeel. Lots of grapefruit. I can’t complain as I paid only $6.99 for a bomber because the store couldn’t push the product. I think their DIPA was fantastic but this one is a bit of a let down.

UPDATED: FEB 12, 2010 Innocent looking beer in a 330ml bottle. Pale, clear with foamy head. Quite bubbly and lively giving a fruity aroma. Lovely malt taste with enormous bitterness. Very enjoyable and memorable. However, a bit like licking someone’s armpit. A rebel. Very memorable. Makes you think they made a mistake and added far too many hops then thought of an appropriate name for it. Don’t know if I’d rush to open a second bottle straight away.

Bottles from various sources, mosty recently brewdog.com. Pours hazy orange with bright white head. Citrus hop aroma. Clean, crisp taste with grapefruit and citrus, starts slightly sweet and finishes bitter. Medium body with great carbonation. Another staple beer for the cellar.

agrumata con sentori di pompelmo maturo, morbida forse un po’ troppo sfuggente, amara

This is the third BrewDog beverage I’ve tried, besides Hardcore IPA and Tokyo. Aroma: Definitely IPA Color: A lot lighter than most IPA’s I’m used to drinking. More along the lines of a light yellow instead of the amber I’d be expecting Taste: For an IPA, it was not as hoppy as I’d be expecting. It was more akin to a light beer than true IPA. So much so, that I started googling around to see if such a creature as an India Pale Lager existed. MF: It had the mouth feel of an IPA but the crispness of a lager. Aftertaste was strongly of IPA. I had to brush my teeth to make it go away. Serving: 10oz Pilsner Goblet. Overall: I think I’d l’d rather stick to their Hardcore IPA

I have punished myself with a bottle of sink the bismark, and a bottle of tactical nuclear penguin ... so just had to try the Punk IPA. I am not too big on the bitterness of IPA, and this was about on par.

Intense hops, short bitter aftertaste. Good summer beer, lets you drink a lot of it. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

33cl bottle A very Bitter IPA, just the way an IPA should taste I think. Taste of Grapefruit/lemon. Very light color makes it almost look untastefull. But the aroma was great and so was the taste. Served slightly chilled a warm summers day. Could get worse so to speak =)
