COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Bottle and keg: Filtered. Cask: Unfiltered.
Ingredients: Marris Otter Extra Pale Malt; Chinook, Crystal, Motoeka hops. IBUs 65
A beer of inherent contradiction. This heavy weight of the beer world is strikingly delicate with a white gold appearance. The light fruity aroma dominates the initial confrontation; lychee, kiwi and passionfruit all prevail with subtle nuances of cherry and strawberry. Don’t be fooled however by this smooth medium bodied ale. As it trickles down your throat as this wolf in sheep’s clothing begins to grow teeth. The bite comes as the bitterness builds and endures no matter how hard the malty sweetness of the alcohol tries to tame this ferocious beast.

NOTE: The recipe was changed at the end of 2009, and this version is no longer made, if you have a bottle with a BBD after 1.1.12, you should go to the "Punk IPA (5.4%)" version.

Bottle from The Store, Edinburgh. (Also tasted the cask version at Edinburgh Beer Festival.) Pours gorgeously with a small clean head which has remarkable staying power. Wonderful Aroma of Grapefruit, Passionfruit and american fruitty hops. amazingly smooth for a 6% beer - drinks more like a 4% one! Nice initial malty sweetness before the enduring biterness bites in - amazinf tropical fruit hoppy finish. Could drink this all night long! very reminiscent of classic American IPAs.

An actual beer this time. They other ones they do are amazing. LIke a 10% stout with wine and whisky. This one is a pale beer very hoppy. I had 4 pints.

UPDATED: JAN 2, 2011 33cl bottle at Chris Shindig. I had this a couple of times as I couldn’t make my mind up. Pale gold, bit of stale hay, bit of lychee, has got a lot of hops. Lots of hot hop on the end. The second bottle I had was colder and better. Nice hop. 3.4/5 Rerate cask at Coastguard, Bottle from Utobeer. Up against Jaipur as Britain’s best IPA? Creamy hop aroma, quite a light intense hop if that makes sense, good top hop notes. Great in moouth, really wide and great condition. Finish is stunning. Hot pepper green hop is floral and hot at the same time. Overall my most drunk beer of 2010 and third best British IPA behind Dobber and Jaipur. Batch 382 - nope, got some odd woodyness, the malts aren’t quite right and not hoppy enough, not a rebuy

What can I say Punk IPA is hoppy, the aim by the brewers was to brew a post modern classic beer with a twist and that twist was the addition of some of the brewers favorite hops including Chinook, Ahtanum and Nelson Sauvin which ups the flavor and bitterness. This is a beer that will tingle the taste buds! well worth a taste!

One of my top ten beers. Smells of grapefruit, fresh grass, maybe some passionfruit. Tastes like nothing else really, the grapefruity hops just kicks your teeth in (is it the Chinook that does it). It’s really citrusy, some like some don’t. Great when you’re having a barbeque. I simply love this.

Ottima come sempre, meno aroma rispetto a quella in lattina, piu’ amara e saporita in bottiglia! La preferisco!

Een echte IPA. Bitter en niet in balans; maar dat is nou net wat je van dit bier verlangt. Hars, spar, citrus. Prima.
