Commercial Description:
A beer of inherent contradiction. This heavy weight of the beer world is strikingly delicate with a white gold appearance. The light fruity aroma dominates the initial confrontation; lychee, kiwi and passionfruit all prevail with subtle nuances of cherry and strawberry. Don’t be fooled however by this smooth medium bodied ale. As it trickles down your throat as this wolf in sheep’s clothing begins to grow teeth. The bite comes as the bitterness builds and endures no matter how hard the malty sweetness of the alcohol tries to tame this ferocious beast.

Bottle from Tescos in Amersham. A hazy orange pour with a thin white head. Citrus, pine, floral, fruity aroma. Clearly influenced by Stone Arrogant Bastard with their label. Bitter, malty and hoppy. No sweetness detected at all. A well balanced brew, maybe a Scottish take on an American IPA? Drinkable beer anyway.

drinkably thin, grapefruit, orangey hop aromas, some spikey tartness, off dry, a touch of good grassyness, no off flavors, medium effervescence, and it’s all very good. subtle and not overpowering but hits all the right spots.

Bitter, thin, super-hoppy. Smells like urine, and tastes pretty rough. I’m sure I used to like this very much because it had so much more hop flavour than other British beers I could buy. And yet, and yet...

Bottle (330ml). Poured hazy golden orange with an averaged sized, rocky, off-white head which lasted well. Aroma was of floral hops with sweet biscuity malts, passionfruit, orange citrus, peaches and hints of toffee. Flavor was a moderate grassy hop bitterness with sweet biscuity malts, grapefruit, nectarines, caramel and some hop resin in the finish. Light to medium bodied with medium carbonation, a dry grassy mouthfeel, thin texture and a decent length finish. Very well balanced – good session ale.

Bottle… mgumby10’s & hopscotch’s WtFFfFDotF Throwdown … Mostly clear, golden ale with pretty much a dead head - a fat bubble here and there. Smells like a Ludens honey-flavored cough drop - they may not even produce them anymore – along with a dash of white pepper. Medium-bodied with nearly expired carbonation. I like the flavor because it’s not as bitter as it should be. Sure, it leans slightly on the bitter side of balance, but just barely. Grapefruit pith, honey and pale malt. Bitters up a bit in the finish, but really, thank God it’s finished.

Shopping at Systembolaget in sweden are rarely exciting. Last time I were in one (Simrishmamn) i realised that they were dealing Brew Dog...Ok i thought respect to "Systemet" - But again Systembolaget that dosnt dare to do anything else than hidding the main stream.. and thus hidding nothing at all - made me suspicious..but then again calling it for a "post modern classic (really a selfcontradiction) pale ale" made me grap a handfull. Pours a clowde wheat-yellow with a nice whitish head. The nose is pretty fresh with citrusnotes and hints of yeast and metal The taste is pale and pretty anonymous with a light bitterness and sweet hoppy notes. Finish is a little fat with malty (caramel) notes. I good idea is not to drink other than pale lagers before this one otherwise you wont taste much... Systembolag... think bigger and order Brew Dogs other beers .... say please
