COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Bottle and keg: Filtered. Cask: Unfiltered.
Ingredients: Marris Otter Extra Pale Malt; Chinook, Crystal, Motoeka hops. IBUs 65
A beer of inherent contradiction. This heavy weight of the beer world is strikingly delicate with a white gold appearance. The light fruity aroma dominates the initial confrontation; lychee, kiwi and passionfruit all prevail with subtle nuances of cherry and strawberry. Don’t be fooled however by this smooth medium bodied ale. As it trickles down your throat as this wolf in sheep’s clothing begins to grow teeth. The bite comes as the bitterness builds and endures no matter how hard the malty sweetness of the alcohol tries to tame this ferocious beast.

NOTE: The recipe was changed at the end of 2009, and this version is no longer made, if you have a bottle with a BBD after 1.1.12, you should go to the "Punk IPA (5.4%)" version.

Bottle. Pours a hazy golden yellow with a thin lacing white head. Strong aroma of citrus and pine. Tastes hoppy - citrus, pine, a bit of fruitiness; moderate bitterness, warms to a light, slightly sweet maltiness. Finishes with a warm grassy bitterness. Extremely well balanced. Very complex. Easily one of the best IPAs out there.

Bottle: White foamy head and a clear golden yellow beer color makes me think this is a lager. Luckily the smell is different: hops, fruit (citrus), malts and sweets. Taste is hoppy, fruity (citrus, grapefruit, lemon), sweet malty and hints of spices. Turns into a more bitter fruity aftertaste. Well balanced with low carbonation and hops.

UPDATED: FEB 6, 2011 Light golden in colour which is a bit disappointing for the style of beer. Aromas are light and fruity with a tropical dried mango/lychee note. some dough and resin are in the palate as well.on the palate it is bittering and feels dry hopped but the whole experience is actually kinda short and disapointing. bittering green hoppy notes are the dominant flavours. Overall an okay but rather tame IPA that leaves me asking for a bit more in a rather expensive brew.

Found at a Dan Murphys in North Adelaide, South Australia. Very Happy with the find do to the lack of ipa in the country. Killer aroma and smooth crispness on the palate.

330ml bottle. Pours a quite pale straw yellow, looking far too pallid and weak for an IPA. Its appearance, however, is redeemed by a smooth, long-lasting head and good lacing. The aroma contains a weak hint of strawberry, with some floral hops. The taste, whilst strongly hoppy, as might be expected from a beer of this style, is not as balanced as a proper IPA should be, as the hops completely dominate the flavour. This would not be all bad, except that the hop flavours here are pretty average: bitter grapefruit largely, with an odd lingering aftertaste. The palate is quite oily in the body, and far too dry in the finish. I have to say, this is not a great beer, despite its brewery of origin. Much as I like Brewdog, this is definitely not their best effort.
