COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Bottle and keg: Filtered. Cask: Unfiltered.
Ingredients: Marris Otter Extra Pale Malt; Chinook, Crystal, Motoeka hops. IBUs 65
A beer of inherent contradiction. This heavy weight of the beer world is strikingly delicate with a white gold appearance. The light fruity aroma dominates the initial confrontation; lychee, kiwi and passionfruit all prevail with subtle nuances of cherry and strawberry. Don’t be fooled however by this smooth medium bodied ale. As it trickles down your throat as this wolf in sheep’s clothing begins to grow teeth. The bite comes as the bitterness builds and endures no matter how hard the malty sweetness of the alcohol tries to tame this ferocious beast.

NOTE: The recipe was changed at the end of 2009, and this version is no longer made, if you have a bottle with a BBD after 1.1.12, you should go to the "Punk IPA (5.4%)" version.

Tap at Spuyten Duyvil. Poured a creamy dark blonde. Nose is floral sweet hops. Nice hop flavor with well balanced sweet malts. Finish is nicely bitter. We found it refreshing.

Yellow gold with bubbles and little white head. Strong skunky aroma. Strong earthy, hoppy taste with bitter aftertaste.

Bottle. A - Light golden with a thin white head. S - A bit of a malt base scent, but mostly hops with a citrus and pine scent mostly, some other floral smells there too. T - Not too dissimilar to the aroma. Pale malt base that adss a little sweetness (not much really). Hops in the forefront provide a citrus and pine and to a lesser extent floral taste. Not really strong, but the hops are definitely present and not subdued. M - Light to medium body with average and decent carbonation. A slight crisp feel to it. D - Pretty good and easy to drink. It is light and decently refreshing and it provides some nice American hop flavors but isn’t going to really hit you strong. Notes: Good IPA that provides some American hop tastes without being too strong or heavy, and has good drinkability. However, it is not all that great and seems to be quite expensive in the US (I got it for 99p while in the UK) so may not be worth it to people in the US.

Hazy dark gold, spicey fruit and citrus over power malts. Dominant hops & full body. @8c was really good. Higher a% could be dangerous. Hophead good.

Bottle 330ml. Pale gold colour with firm white head. Strong hop aroma, particularly citrus. Very bitter taste, with slight sweet fruit flavour appearing. Obviously dominated by hops, but this isn’t hop juice. A beer I return to often.

[2665-20091220] Bottle. Citrus tree bark and dry toast aroma. Clear, pale yellow brown body with a long-lasting foamy white head. Bitter tree bark flavour has mild grapefruit hops. Medium body is quite bitter. Wow, bitter.

A great classic IPA, easy to drink but still medium-heavy bitter, lively on the palate but not too fizzy, alcohol aroma with good character.
