Commercial Description:
A beer of inherent contradiction. This heavy weight of the beer world is strikingly delicate with a white gold appearance. The light fruity aroma dominates the initial confrontation; lychee, kiwi and passionfruit all prevail with subtle nuances of cherry and strawberry. Don’t be fooled however by this smooth medium bodied ale. As it trickles down your throat as this wolf in sheep’s clothing begins to grow teeth. The bite comes as the bitterness builds and endures no matter how hard the malty sweetness of the alcohol tries to tame this ferocious beast.

A golden beer with a small white head. The aroma is earthy, grassy and of grape. The taste is grassy of grape and pine. Medium body with a very dry finish.

Cask at the Rake, London. I’ve had this before in a bottle, and I’m sure it was better from the cask. The powerful tropical fruit flavours give way to to a very nice long bitter finish. It may not be as good as the much mourned Stone California Double IPA, but it’s the next best thing from a British brewery.

Not a bad brew, but it seems more like an aggresive APA to me. It pours a clear golden body with a creamy white head and slippery lacing. The aroma is of tropical fruit with a floral undertone. The flavor has sweet grainy malts, pineapple and other fruit, countered by a growing hoppy bitterness, mainly floral and grassy in nature with a touch of citric zest. Nice finish, bitter and dry. Seems more like a sessionable pale ale overall, but pretty decent.

Batch 001. ABV 6%. Cloudy light straw with large rocky head. Aroma of light caramel malts with grasssy and floral hops. Well bittered with grassy and floral hop flavor and supporting pale malt sweetness. Very floral hop flavor and bitter as all get out. Finish is moderatly dry and bitterness lingers. Hop bitterness is over the top and a bit out of balance, just as the label eludes.

courtesy of Toni Flükiger hazy dark orange in colour and with a little elusive foam; aroma of fresh apples and pears, notes of almonds; good and regular malt body, fair but not aggressive bitterness; quite dry and long almondy finish, slightly fruity and flowery

Bottle. Average fizzy white head that mostly diminished. Clear somewhat sparkling pale golden color. Fair display of lacework. Aroma of mild hoppy notes, dusty grass, grape. Over the palate came pine, mild underlying malty and fruity sweetness. Medium bodied with an average carbonation and dry texture. Moderated bitter flavor with light sweetness. Dry bitter hoppy finish.

Thanks Heemer. Light golden pour, little head. Dull honey and floral nose. Again a honey taste with a bitter finish.
