Commercial Description:
A beer of inherent contradiction. This heavy weight of the beer world is strikingly delicate with a white gold appearance. The light fruity aroma dominates the initial confrontation; lychee, kiwi and passionfruit all prevail with subtle nuances of cherry and strawberry. Don’t be fooled however by this smooth medium bodied ale. As it trickles down your throat as this wolf in sheep’s clothing begins to grow teeth. The bite comes as the bitterness builds and endures no matter how hard the malty sweetness of the alcohol tries to tame this ferocious beast.

Courtesy of MaltDawg. Batch 001. Best before 01/01/09. Somewhat hazy pale straw color with a medium frothy white head that persists. Sweet floral hop aroma with some faint malt in the background. Sweet floral hop flavor and a lot of bitterness, some faint caramel flavors, but certainly dominated by the hops. Medium body with moderate carbonation and a rather bitter finish.

(33 cl bottle from Systembolaget) BB 01/01/09. On May 29, 2008. Clear pale straw color, white head. Sweet and fruity hoppy scent. Nice bitter and hoppy taste, though not very well balanced when it’s way to bitter. Smooth almost thin mouthfeel, very high bitterness.

22oz bottle shared by heemer77. Thanks Eric. Batch 001, best by 1/1/09. Poured a slightly hazy light golden color with a soapy white head that left some lace behind. The color was a little lighter than I had expected. Attractive strong flowery hop aroma with light grapefruit and thin malty caramel. Body was on the lighter end of the spectrum without being watery. Delicately sweet with sprucy hop and buttery caramel flavors accompanied by moderate hop bitterness of about 6 out of 10. Tasty stuff.

Sample at DLD. Amber, copper color. Smell of hops, citrus, roses and grass. Taste of light malt and hops, flowers and a touch of grapefruit.

Bottle, Oddbins, Summertown, Oxford consumed 25-05-08 Great aroma to this beer, with sweet soft apricots and hoppy floralness combining lovely. I had this slightly chilled so it threw a slight chill haze to the otherwise clear light golden colour, with only small white film for head. Lovely citric bitterness, that floods through, very refreshing, crisp, some pithiness but its damn good.

Thanks again to heemer for this one. Pours straw yellow with a thin white head. It could pass for miller lite! Citrus and floral hops in the aroma and flavor. Biscuit and caramel back up the flavor. Has a very light finish, refreshing.

Bottle from Nikki’s Liquor in Providence, RI. Pours golden with a nice bubbly look and a big 2 finger puffy off white head. The nose is light, hoppy and full of citrus. Bitter on the Front and tart on the back end. Not really my favorite kind of IPA. So far I’d have to say my fav BrewDog is the Physics.
