Commercial Description:
A beer of inherent contradiction. This heavy weight of the beer world is strikingly delicate with a white gold appearance. The light fruity aroma dominates the initial confrontation; lychee, kiwi and passionfruit all prevail with subtle nuances of cherry and strawberry. Don’t be fooled however by this smooth medium bodied ale. As it trickles down your throat as this wolf in sheep’s clothing begins to grow teeth. The bite comes as the bitterness builds and endures no matter how hard the malty sweetness of the alcohol tries to tame this ferocious beast.

33cl bottle from Systembolaget Charlotteberg. It poured a light golden color with a medium head that vanishes quickly in the glass. It has a very interesting aroma that smells of fruits, mostly passionfruits. The flavor is completely different from the aroma as it is very bitter, but you can also taste the passionfruits and a hint of kiwi.

Batch 001, best by 01/01/09. I got a bottle of this expecting an IPA, but It is no where near the style designation, but good anyway. The body was pale yellow with a white head, that was the first hitn of somethign different. The aroma was floral with some sweet bread. The taste was bitter and grassy with some tobacco. This is more like a hoppy golden ale in my opinion. While very good, it was now where near worth the huge price tag.

Poured from a 22oz bottle (Batch 001) and served in a shaker. This IPA poured a light golden amber with a slight haze and a one-finger thick head of bubbly, sticky foam. Heavy lacing coated the entire glass. The aroma of the beer was made up of grassy hops, mango, oranges, and some spicy yeast esthers. The flavor was dry and peppery. Lots of bitter grapefruit rind, white pepper, and light mango. Very natural and earthy. The mouthfeel was medium-bodied with light carbonation. Crisp and clean. This was a pretty decent IPA. Not overly tasty, but it has a nice, crisp bite.

Pours hazy golden, thin white head. Peppery grapefruit hop nose.
Sweet initially flavour quickly overtaken by peppery hops, resiny mouthcoating.
Very zesty hop character, balanced with a biscuity malt.

Light lemony golden, thick white head. Citric, grapefruity hops and grainy malts on the nose. Flavor is lightly flowery hops, grainy malts and grapefruity bitterness. Medium bodied, smoothly carbonated palate. Straightforward and pale IPA.

A lovely straw/gold brew with a thin but long lasting white head. Amazing fruity nose with underlying malt. Clean and slightly sweet, the quite intense hoppy bitterness hits you a few seconds after it slips down, the 6% is more than adequate and adds a bit of weight which results in a well balanced well flavoured brew. Crackin’!

Bottle. A clear, yellowish golden pour leaves a white head. Citrus and pine dominates the aroma. There’s maltyness and a flowery and fruity note too. The flavor is much the same as the aroma, and finishes with lasting flavors of pine and resin. Medium body, and an almost stinging mouthfeel from the bitterness. One-dimentional but nice. Judging from my two different samples, it almost looks as I had two different beers, but I’m sure I haven’t. Rating: 7-3-7-3-14-3.4. (080509)

Bottle, thx to Ole_R for sharing. It pours a clear, pale golden body with a medium-sized white head. Heavy roasted malty nose, slightly coffee-ish, with some pine and peach and a heavy hoppyness. Hoppy flavor with pine and resin, as well as some coffee and a balancing maltyness. Full-bodied and with a long hoppy finish. Very malty for an IPA, more like a hopped-up scotch ale, but I like it. Bottle. Head is initially large, frothy, white, mostly lasting. Body is hazy medium yellow, unfiltered. Aroma is lightly malty (toasted grain), moderately hoppy (flowers, herbs), lightly yeasty (dough), with a note of lemon zest, hint of gum. Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly to moderately acidic, lightly to moderately bitter. Finish is lightly sweet, lightly to moderately acidic, moderately to heavily bitter. Medium body, velvety texture, lively carbonation. Pretty good stuff, but not quite there for me...pleasant if somewhat simple aroma and the flavor balance is just a bit too rough for me (double attack of citric tartness and bitterness). But otherwise it’s quite nice.
