It’s worth a spin. Punk IPA poured a muddy caramel colour with a loose topping of suds. The aroma had some real zing - a huge improvement on 99% of bottled British ales. This really smelled remarkably fresh for a bottled beer near the end of its shelf life after the long journey down under. Lychee, passionfruit, root ginger, home-brewed lemonade and some classic British nutty malts. Interesting flavour mix - I’d guess English malts and US hops? A bit like The Clash vs The Ramones. Quite loose in the body but with a rasping phlegmy finish. Tropical fruits on a bed of chewy malts. Lychee, passionfruit, toffee, walnuts and a long, lingering bitterness. Pushing towards IIPA bitterness. Not a complete success but enjoyable drinking. (330ml bottle from Platinum Liquor, Bellevue Hill. Batch 179. BB 11/11/09) agl108 (513), Manayunk, Pennsylvania, USA

Very nicely balanced between citrus hoppiness and sweet malts. Finished with a dry, lingering bitterness. Sessionable. Not a big fan of the marketing campaign; the "we don’t care if you don’t like our beer" micro schtick is a bit old. maniac (2774), Richmond, Virginia, USA

Somewhat hazy pale straw color with a medium frothy white head that persists. Sweet floral hop aroma with some faint malt in the background. Sweet floral hop flavor and a lot of bitterness, some faint caramel flavors, but certainly dominated by the hops. Medium body with moderate carbonation and a rather bitter finish. 33cl bottle at Chris O’s Shindig. Clean blonde colour with a slight white head. Very sweet (but thankfully tolerable) aroma. Plenty of citrus and very herbal and grassy. A slight buttery note but it’s ok. American hoppy flavour. Slightly sticky but still remains enjoyable. Typically American actually. Loads of everything. Quite tropical too. Thick and full mouthfeel. Pretty good stuff I thought. Nightfall (647), Athens, Greece

Citrus and pine dominates the aroma. There’s maltyness and a flowery and fruity note too. The flavor is much the same as the aroma, and finishes with lasting flavors of pine and resin. Medium body, and an almost stinging mouthfeel from the bitterness. One-dimentional but nice. Judging from my two different samples, it almost looks as I had two different beers, but I’m sure I haven’t. Rating: 7-3-7-3-14-3.4. (080509)
Bottle, thx to Ole_R for sharing. It pours a clear, pale golden body with a medium-sized white head. Heavy roasted malty nose, slightly coffee-ish, with some pine and peach and a heavy hoppyness. Hoppy flavor with pine and resin, as well as some coffee and a balancing maltyness. Full-bodied and with a long hoppy finish. Very malty for an IPA, more like a hopped-up scotch ale, but I like it. The head was kind of tired and small and went away fast. The aroma is big from all the hops and plesent. The hops are also clearly present in the taste combined with a good biterness. Not as extreme as some american IPA:s just perfect IPA that you could enjoy several botles of. Soonah (980), Tulsa, Oklahoma, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Dec 9, 2009 Poured clear and slightly darker gold than a pedestrian lager. The head was white and relatively short but the lacing was nice. The aroma is mostly floral and pine hops with some nice citrus offering some balance. Flavor was aggressive pine and floral hops. Some malts and citrus came in from time to time. Medium bodied and quite enjoyable.
