On tap at White Horse, Parson’s Green. Definitely an estery yeast aroma. Definitely Punk in the mouth. Not a bad mix, a peachy grapefruit IPA. Probably the best thing at this festival

Crisp golden yellow ... wow its a fight in the nose between the yeast and the hops some times it seems all yeast and other times all grapefruit and orange and yet others times a subtle balance ... bitter hop front ... quite dry ... lots of bitter hop resins ... some yeast ...

Bottle. [thank you, cgarvieuk]
Pours lovely clear golden with a fine, small, creamy, white head. Aroma is complex, grassy, piney, oranges, light grapefruit and a slight yeasty touch. Mild carbonation, lovely dry mouthfeel. Flavour is hoppy, dry, bitter. Especially grassy and a bit piney. The Belgian yeast strain lends the beer some softness and a light fruitiness. Really lovely actually.

A Mes rate. Cask at the Rake. Bloody hell. Hats are well and truly off to Tom for this being in absolutely stunning condition. Lovely and clean solid gold colour, excellent white head, plenty of lace and a proper snowstorm when swilled. The aroma is even more spectacular. My god. That is one of the most assertive yet elegant hoppy snouts I’ve ever experienced. It’s straight down the middle between grassy and resinous and floral and aromatic. The Chinooks are really singing a glorious rabble rousing chorus coupled with a driving rhythm from the perfectly pitched lightly sweet malt base. Bloody excellent stuff. The flavour follows on in similarly arse spankingly good form. Maybe just a hint of paper from the hops but it’s really not spoiling anything, it’s just there if I really think about it. Big herbal hoppage that instantly turns grassy then floral. High alpha content, stunning bitterness and again the malt base holds it all up with considerable strength without ever being too obtrusive. Lip smacking fruity hop finish with a building bitter aftertaste and eventually a polite nod towards the Belgian yeast. The body is superb, drinkability is top notch. Smack me round the face with a kipper, BrewDog have done it again.

Cask at the White Horse on Parson Green Belgian Beer Festival, 30 August 2009. Amber colour. Excellent mix of grapefruity astringent hops and a Belgian edge. Very fresh & tasty.

UPDATED: OCT 12, 2010 Bottled. A golden coloured beer with barely any head and just a rim of off-white bubbles around the edge of the glass. A big fruity citrus aroma from all those late addition hops. Oranges especially. Very bitter and tasty in the mouth. Lovely hoppy citrus flavours again. Tastes stronger and longer than regular Punk. This is all about those extra hops; the yeast profile doesn’t really effect the flavours IMO. Very nice indeed. Better than any bottle of Punk I’ve had. Score 4.0 Subsequent ratings scored 3.9 and 3.6. Average becomes 3.8
