Bottle at home, big thanks to Fin for digging this retired number out of his cellar for me, 21/05/14. Black with a well appointed tan head that dissipates a little but stays to party. Nose is medicinal, tarte raspberry, TCP, peated malt, decaying water melon, light roast. Taste comprises rich peated malt, tangy raspberries, red berry medley, ligtht smoke, TCP, ashen tones, light bitter roast. Medium + body, fine carbonation, light boozey ring in the close. This has held up pretty well for 5 years or so, the nose is a little harsh but this is still a decent drinkable number.

Countbeer (4303) - Best of E-Town mit ein Brauhaus, NETHERLANDS - JUL 5, 2013
Bottle: Thanks Ken: Served in a Chouffe glass: Even after all those years the carbonation is still very good. Almost gusher. Brown pour. Medium sized, lively and quickly changing creamy beige foamy head on top of a deep dark blackish brown colored beer. Aroma is red fruit, raspberry, light dusty cherry notes, cream, light peat, light tart, light roast, light coffee and some chocate. Flavours of charcoal, bitter, tar, ash, coffee roast, peat, wood burn, malt roast/burn, light hint of something red fruity but overpowered by the charcoal and roast. Aftertaste is roast, charcoal, bitter and wood burn. Medium carbo, blown mouthfeel, medium to full body and a texture between watery and creamy. The aroma has an obvious raspberry aroma while the flavour has an explicit charcoal roasty bitter aroma. Makes it also a bit unbalanced. Maybe itís a bit old and made the raspberry fade out a bit. But still itís an enjoyable beer..

Poured black with soft medim head that turned to film over the course of the drink. Held up to the light a tan hue shines through. Smells of smoke, peat, a bit of rubber and slight sweet/tart berry. Tastes much like the aroma, Begins with a lot of smoke and peat, a hint of berry and finishes tart and surprisingly clean with very little aftertaste. Palate was thin and effervescent especially for the style. When I have an imp Stout I want a rich viscus body and this was not the case. Overall, a very decent beer with many flavors, but lacking in certain areas.

Very dark brown stout, short pale brown head. Strong smoky whisky on the nose with a little raspberry. Light palate, a little dry. This beer is an eye opener! Tart raspberry kicks off and carries through becoming more jammy at the end. Riding alongside is a smoky whisky flavour. These two extremes live together in a house of dark malt. Minerals. Took awhile to decide if I liked it but was ultimately won over by itís bold flavours and innovation.

UPDATED: MAY 8, 2012 3500th rating. 330 ml hand-labeled bottle sent by cgarvieuk and shared by bsuedekum- thanks, Craig and Blake, for allowing me to try this rarity! 2009, 11% ABV. Pours a dark, mostly opaque brown with a finger of beige head. Smoky aroma, with peat, olives, raspberries, roasted malts, earth, ashy tobacco, and molasses. The flavor has more raspberry than the aroma, along with smoke and roasted malts, dark chocolate, and campfire. Medium-bodied, with modest carbonation and a smoky mouthfeel. Iíd have been interested to try this fresher to see if the raspberry was more pronounced or if it was just as smoky, which is the more dominant component. They donít necessarily complement each other the best.

Bottle. Trade with Cgarvieuk. Finally. Thanks Craig. Pours black with bubbles on top. Nose is peated smokey with juicy raspberries lurking beneath. Flavor: A bit of roast coffee, peat and fruity and juicy raspberries. Alcohol long gone. Pretty much what I expected. It works . . Great!

Bottle at Nateís Massive Birthday Party. Pours dark brown with a small head. Very smokey, some tangy fruits and dark malts, lots of tobacco. Medium to full bodied. Mildly warming finish, light lactic sugar, tons of smoke, some roasted malts. Pretty good.

Bottle thanks to Evin at Nateís Birthday Bash. It pours deep brown, with a decent tan head. The nose is TCP, medicinal, roasted malt, smoked peat and herbal notes. The taste is sour fruit, tart raspberry, malt vinegar, chocolate, earth and smoke, with a dry, roasted finish. Full body, fine carbonation and foamy mouth-feel. Interesting and flavoursome.

Bottle care of Ken at Nateís birthday, The Kernel. Colour is dark brown, off white head. Nose is remarkable. Big waft of earthiness, rich smoking peat, red berries. Taste is that rich peaty earthiness again, with some ale fruit notes and red berry. Finish is touch of burnt earthiness lingering on tongue.

RBESG Sheffield 2009 Grand Tasting @ the Harlequin. Dark brown color, Medium off-white head. Roasted malt aromas with some caramel and a hint of berries in the back. Taste of roasted malts, iodine, ash and an acidic touch with a notable raspberry flavour. Full body. Bitter finish with a slight citric touch.Weird but likeable.
