UPDATED: MAY 8, 2012 3500th rating. 330 ml hand-labeled bottle sent by cgarvieuk and shared by bsuedekum- thanks, Craig and Blake, for allowing me to try this rarity! 2009, 11% ABV. Pours a dark, mostly opaque brown with a finger of beige head. Smoky aroma, with peat, olives, raspberries, roasted malts, earth, ashy tobacco, and molasses. The flavor has more raspberry than the aroma, along with smoke and roasted malts, dark chocolate, and campfire. Medium-bodied, with modest carbonation and a smoky mouthfeel. I’d have been interested to try this fresher to see if the raspberry was more pronounced or if it was just as smoky, which is the more dominant component. They don’t necessarily complement each other the best.

Bottle. Trade with Cgarvieuk. Finally. Thanks Craig. Pours black with bubbles on top. Nose is peated smokey with juicy raspberries lurking beneath. Flavor: A bit of roast coffee, peat and fruity and juicy raspberries. Alcohol long gone. Pretty much what I expected. It works . . Great!

Bottle at Nate’s Massive Birthday Party. Pours dark brown with a small head. Very smokey, some tangy fruits and dark malts, lots of tobacco. Medium to full bodied. Mildly warming finish, light lactic sugar, tons of smoke, some roasted malts. Pretty good.

Bottle thanks to Evin at Nate’s Birthday Bash. It pours deep brown, with a decent tan head. The nose is TCP, medicinal, roasted malt, smoked peat and herbal notes. The taste is sour fruit, tart raspberry, malt vinegar, chocolate, earth and smoke, with a dry, roasted finish. Full body, fine carbonation and foamy mouth-feel. Interesting and flavoursome.

Bottle care of Ken at Nate’s birthday, The Kernel. Colour is dark brown, off white head. Nose is remarkable. Big waft of earthiness, rich smoking peat, red berries. Taste is that rich peaty earthiness again, with some ale fruit notes and red berry. Finish is touch of burnt earthiness lingering on tongue.

RBESG Sheffield 2009 Grand Tasting @ the Harlequin. Dark brown color, Medium off-white head. Roasted malt aromas with some caramel and a hint of berries in the back. Taste of roasted malts, iodine, ash and an acidic touch with a notable raspberry flavour. Full body. Bitter finish with a slight citric touch.Weird but likeable.

Frugt og imperial stout ? OG DET VIRKER! Sød malt, kaffe, hindbær, tøv, lidt røg, fad, grape lidt, sort, brun tæt lang skum. Sød, bitter, tør og blød.

Bottle, RBWG 2010. Pours a clear dark brown, almost black, body with a wispy minimal off-white head. The nose is briney and peaty with some smoke, heavy roast, and a nice ripe raspberry note. The flavor is peaty as all hell with some fresh ripe seedy raspberries on the finish. Lots of roast and wood, with just a little bit of alcohol. Mouthfeel is not sticky or cloying at all, and the barrel dries out the finish really well. Really interesting beer, especially if you’re into peat.

Aroma is initially just sweet with lots of raspberry and then some roasted malts. Flavor is sweet, raspberry, some cocoa and must. Slightly bitter and odd, semi medicinal. Not that good for me.

330 ml bottle; wow, thanks Brandon for this rare treat; pours dark brown and almost muddy with thin tan head; tobacco and cherries up front with dirty branches, dry tobacco leaves and chocolate; wow, very interesting mouthfeel with a very dry, smoky finish; not the rauch smokiness but big time dried tobacco leaves; raspberries and chocolate mixed in too; peaty, earthy and a little candy sweetness to round it out; never tasted the dried tobacco leaves quite like this; I really enjoyed this one
