COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Cask & Bottled;
It was only a matter of time before the original BrewDog got his paws in on the action. This egotistical young lab has decided to make a beer which best reflects himself. This is the beer equivalent of the big, cute chocolate monster. Soft, smooth, dark, chocolately and very strong. This gentle giant will never bite but would much rather give you a big lick on the face.

330ml bottle. Thick, rich and creamy light chocolate foam mountain. Thick and black like oil. Looks great in the glassand the foam sits for a while before slowly settling. Aromas are inviting with dark bitter chocolate, cocoa and coffee beans coming through. Full flavoured with a thickness that coats the tongue.

head: baileys colour , thick, bubbly
colour: blaxk
smell: brown creamy chocolat, bit of alcohol, roasted but soft malts , fairly sweet
taste: start is very much like pure candy sirup , a very strong soury irony / bloody taste comes immediatly afterwards, there’s also a bit of cold coffee , alcohol is noticed only in the second sip , and the end is malty and oily , not bad but i expected more of the taste cause of the smell ...

jrallen34 is spot on the mark with this one. A very over-carbonated stout with some coffee and liquorice bubbling throughout. Not great at all

Pour is jet black, no head to speak of at all. Nose is of dark malts, coffee, and licorice oddly enough. Taste is dominated by coffee up front, and sweet licorice in back. Rather light for an imperial stout.

I drank this from the bottle into my Orval glass. The beer is black with a light head not much retention or lacing. The aroma is light giving off coffee and a lot of black licorice which I do not like. The taste is light and the feel is watery. There is some coffee, more licorice. Overall, this is a terrible stout, light tasting, terrible feel, just boring.

22.4oz bottle poured into a Snifter at 41°. Color is black light carbonation and a thin smooth head. Aroma is very light with just a hint of roasted malt coming out. Its bold medium body gives a crisp mouth feel. Flavor is thin with a sweet roasted malt and sugar taste. After taste more sweet. Overall its a very disappointing brew, the others that I have had from these guys have been good but this just is not what I was expecting.

22.4 oz bottle 3/24/11 (Veteran Liquor) 41° in Snifter-Pours black with a small tanhead. Aroma of roasted malt. Taste of coffee, roasted malt, sweetness, and chocolate. This medium to full bodied brew is fairly light in flavor. I was expecting something a little bit heavier.

This is a mean looking beer: a pitch black body (hazy or clear, have no idea, all I see is utter darkness), with a frothy, light brown, mostly diminishing head. The aroma is dominated by dried figs, with lots of roasted, smokey, coffee notes. After my glass was empty and I was done taking notes, I see from the commercial description that this is supposed to be a chocolate monster: strangely enough I didn’t pick up any chocolate aromas or flavours, but I’ll keep it in mind for a future re-rating… The taste is initially light sweet, but it soon gets moderate bitter, before it all ends up in a long, moderate bitter finish. The carbonation is moderate. The bottle claims that this is a twisted, merciless stout, but I found it nice and easy to drink, without being too gentle or boring. A nice beer that I most certainly will buy again! [33 cl bottle, from Vinmonopolet]
