Pours a nice cholocate brown color with almost no head. What little head there is leaves a nice tan lacing behind. Aroma is roasted malt, sweet caramel & alcohol. Big roasted malt and choloate flavor with a weel balanced bitterness and hops.

Nice. Finaly a beer from the young but already legendary brewer that I enjoy. Maybe it’s beceause this is an approachable beer for me, but hé, who gifs a .... Anayway. This full bodied stout drinks like a soft erotic s.m. movie. Dark, not really my style, but enjoyable and a strange climax. good palate, nice aromas and a subtile finish. chocolate, coffee, roasty, basement aromas, cough drop, soy sauce, black, hazy, frothy, brown foam, medium sweetness, lightly bitter, lightly sour, salty, full body, oily feel, creamy, thick feel, lively, soft carbonation, long finish.

bottle bb 12/12/09 picked up at sunflower and consumed 7/31/10.
clear. dark burgundy reddish porter color with no head. actually, 18 big bubbles disappear in under 30 seconds.
aromas of wood, toasted bread, raisins, roast molasses, toasted nuts and dusty grain.
the flavor is purdy much the same... lots of molasses, some chocolate and roast. it finishes with some bitterness and prickly spice.
medium bodied, slick and still since it is dead flat. benefit of the doubt until this is re-rated7/3/7/1/12/3.0
3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 crossovert (2547) - Wisconsin, USA - FEB 21, 2011
660ml bottle, best by 9/9/09.
Struggles to form a head but after a vigorous pour i am able to get a tightly foamed 2 finger head out of it. Surprisingly it takes awhile to recede and leaves ok lacing. It is off white. The beer is pitch black, I can barely make out the thinnest line of brown at the edges when held to light.
It smells very caramally. and very sugary and malty. There is a hint of cocoa and roast coffee, but not a huge presence. The smell is a bit thin though.
The mouthfeel is pretty under carbonated but it works decently with the style, the mouthfeel is reminiscent of Bell’s Expedition but not as good. The taste is of roast malt and some sweet malts. Not eloquent but still solid.
It is a decent stout but nothing amazing.

33 cl bottle from bierzwerg.de. Dark brown/black colour with medium, cream head. Nice looking beer in general with nicely lacing head. Aroma is coffee, chocolate, hops, molasses, roasted malts and dark fruits (plums, prunes etc). Nice, a bit sweet flavour with coffee and choclate notes and lightly to medium bitter ending. Medium to bitter bodied with nice feel overall. Very nice imp stout that’s very good for it’s ABV.
4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 ComradeK (466) - Blue Mountains, AUSTRALIA - FEB 18, 2011
330ml bottle. Pours an opaque black, with a huge tan head, which lasts extremely well, and leaves excellent lace. There is a strong Turkish coffee aroma, with a hint of molasses lurking in the background. Oily pine hops start it off, before being briefly replaced by a slight briny taste. This is soon overcome by sweet Turkish coffee and a bitter dark chocolate finish. This is a very well balanced stout, especially for an 8% imperial stout, and another good effort from Brewdog.

22oz bottle, batch 94, best by Dec 12, 2009. Served at cellar temperature. Pours dark brown to black with a very bubbly small weak head, maintains a lot of big bubbles and leaves some small spots of lacing. Aroma is burnt malts, dark fruit, anise, smoke, a bit of chocolate. Moderate strength at best. Flavor is some chocolate, cola, molasses, figs, fair sweetness. Mouthfeel is thin to medium, oily, low carbonation. Not sure if this was at its best...OK as it is.

Bottle from Microbar, Manchester. Jet black pour with a light tan head. Dark roast coffee, dark chocolate, caramel and tobacco aromas. Coffee, vanilla, chocolate and a little smoke in the flavour. Dry, sweet finish. Most satisfying.
