COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Cask & Bottled;
It was only a matter of time before the original BrewDog got his paws in on the action. This egotistical young lab has decided to make a beer which best reflects himself. This is the beer equivalent of the big, cute chocolate monster. Soft, smooth, dark, chocolately and very strong. This gentle giant will never bite but would much rather give you a big lick on the face.

bottle - Pours black with a small tan head and the characteristic big stout aromas of dark roast malt, coffee, and chocolate. The flavor is of sweet roast malt and dark, bitter chocolate that are balanced well. The hops bitterness lingers in the roasty finish. It’s full bodied and a very enjoyable quaff.

Dark brown, head dissipated quickly. Less mouthfeel than I expected, reminds me of a porter but bigger. It’s like Starbucks, all roast and no flavor.

Bottle shared with quiznoaz. Black color with tan head that dissipates quickly. Taste is slight roast - but you have to look for it in the flavor. Decent enough for a stout.

A brown coloured beer with a mocca coloured foam. Aroma; Rosted malt all the way, with some chocolate, hasselnuts and a hint of spicyness. Flavour; Pretty much the same as the nose, the roasted malt being more smooth than on the nose. Good body and a gentel carbonation. Just a hint of bitternes in the end. Summary; A very drinkable Imperial Stout, well-made!

glennmastrange (1547) - hobe sound, Florida, USA - DEC 7, 2010
Bottle. Moderate to heavy malt notes of toasted and dark chocolate, light resin and earth for the hops and yeast, with vanilla and dark rum in the background. Head is small, bubbly, light brown with some slippery lacing and good legs and is fully diminishing. Color is very dark brown. Flavor starts lightly to moderately sweet and the long finish is lightly acidic and moderately to heavily bitter. Palate is on the fuller side of medium, oily with an almost flat carbonation and has a sticky, chalky and dry finish. It’s missing a few things I expect from an Imperial Stout, but it’s still has enough good qualities to call it a re-do.

Roasted malt, caramel, cream and tobacco in aroma. Mostly roasty flavour with notes of chocolate, raisin, light coffee

Batch 123. Labeled as best before 7/7/10. Almost no head to speak of. Aroma of molasses, malt, a touch of alcohol and dark fruit. Taste is sticky with bitter dark chocolate and molasses. Nice body and mouthfeel with a bit of a tart finish.

Batch 094, bottled on December 12, 2009. I had a hard time forming any head from this beer... had to practically dump it in the glass to get a 3/4 inch medium brown, almost pinkish, head. It’s a silky and classy looking solid black beer - with its pink head, and how dark and silky this looks you’d think it was made for women. Even as guy though, I think this is a really good looking beer, especially if you can get it to form some head. Its aroma is of roasted malts, but more than just your everyday roasted malt... it’s actually very pleasantly different with a touch of coffee and light chocolate, but smells nothing like how Americans do such stouts. This has some sweet spices, dark fruits, and hints of molasses added into the mix to really wow you. This is one of those beers that I just can’t get enough of in the nose. Although very hardy-smelling beer, in the mouth it’s much thinner yet still retains it silky smooth character. The flavor is a whisper of the aroma, followed by a light bitter and dry finish. Although incredibly good, the palate isn’t quite as good as I would have hoped for after this beer’s fantastic nose. The alcohol presence isn’t so high that it’s a hassle to drink. It’s so easy to drink that you can take sip after sip without even knowing what you’re drinking (in a good way). It’s a pretty incredible fast-drinking beer. Which is good, because you don’t want the flavor to be so strong that you have to wait to take the next sip. The finish doesn’t weigh you down with roasted malts either like alot of stouts of this style do.
