COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Cask & Bottled;
It was only a matter of time before the original BrewDog got his paws in on the action. This egotistical young lab has decided to make a beer which best reflects himself. This is the beer equivalent of the big, cute chocolate monster. Soft, smooth, dark, chocolately and very strong. This gentle giant will never bite but would much rather give you a big lick on the face.

Bottled 33cl. Ordered from www.bierzwerg.de. It pours a very dark beer with ruby reflects. Smallish bubbly beige head. Ginger, candied apricot, mushrooms, mocha and a lot of roasted malt and tar in the nose. Good bitterness. Medium to full bodied. Hints of cress and ginger in the taste. Low and sublte carbonation. Very salty in the finish. Reminiscent of North Coast Old Rasputin Russian Imperial Stout.

Bottle: Pours a pitch black color with no head. The nose is roasty with some sharp astringency and chocolate, mild hop and alcohol. The flavor is a little muted with some more bitter/astringent roast notes. Decent finish though and overall a decent drinking stout, just not really showing me what it’s capable of.

Bottle, 33cl, from Vinmonopolet, Oslo. Batch 457 (BB 21.12.2011). Black colour with a golden hue. Inch-thick beige head, quickly reducing to a thin lacing. Lovely dark roasted malt aroma with some fruitiness, tar, coffee, chocolate. Medium body, slick, a tad watery. Soft carbonation. Taste is somewhat salty, but well-balanced. Long, rich aftertaste with good bitterness. Great stout.

UPDATED: MAY 28, 2010 Bottle. Pours very dark brown with reddish highlights. A stable brown head lingers. Aroma and flavour of roasted malt, chocolate, raisins and hops. Some dark fruit sweetness comes through as well. Good bitterness. Not a big body though, and does tend to fade away in the finish. Like most of Brewdog Impys it has a great nose but just lacking balance.

Dark brown body with white head. Roasted aroma less dominant compared to other stouts I had, more of chocolate, vanilla, and caramel. Oily, dense, rich mouth-feel with just the right bitterness. Hard not to love..

This starts with a chocolate aroma, with a touch of tartness in the background. Pours a nearly opaque ruby-black, with just a dusting of light tan head. Nice full mouthfeel, really rich roast and chocolate flavors, just a bit of hop bitterness to finish it off. Really drinkable, especially for the 8% ABV.
