Cask & Bottled;
It was only a matter of time before the original BrewDog got his paws in on the action. This egotistical young lab has decided to make a beer which best reflects himself. This is the beer equivalent of the big, cute chocolate monster. Soft, smooth, dark, chocolately and very strong. This gentle giant will never bite but would much rather give you a big lick on the face.

Light brown head on a black body. Good lacing. Inviting aromas of chocolate, malts and perfume. Sweet, acidic, burnt malts and faint alcohol flavors. Long aftertaste with acidity and roasted malts. A bit astringent palate, but still smooth to drink. Alcoholic. I wouldn’t mind seconds of this one. In fact I’d recommend it. (Bottle@Cardinal 20.1.2010)

Bottle pours rather dull looking with no head. The aroma is is heavily leaning to the caramel and toffee malts. The flavor hits with a serious sweetness and some light roasty character, though not much. This is a very tame Impy and I like it for a change from all the over the top Impys out there. I think the body is there, not too heavy and yest makes itself known. This is a really drinkable example.

Bottle. Pours a deep reddish brown color with a small tan head that recedes to nothing. Nose is heavy on teh chocolate malt and light caramely syrup notes. Palate is flat with a good thickness and a nice sticky after note. Flavors of chocolate malt, some cola flavors, and a light vanilla note in the finish. Kind of like a chocolate, flat, vanilla coke.

Pours light black. Excellent aromas of coffee and chocolate. Light flavors mocha chocolate. Very drinkable considering the 8% ABV.

Pours a deep black color with a thin beige head. Aroma of licorice, chocolate and mild alcohol. Flavor of licorice and chocolate with some roasted malt. The body is light to medium and the carbonation is moderate, the mouthfeel feels mostly boring.

Bomber pours pitch black with zero retaining head into snifter; delicate lacing. Heavily malted aroma with milk and dark chocolate, raspberries, earthy and a bit roasty; quite a nice nose. The aroma masks the true character of the taste. It’s fairly smoky, reminiscent of beef jerky; little roasty and a touch of cocoa. Finishes thin with a malty, roasted, spiced taste. This really tastes a lot like cured meat to me, but in a fairly pleasant way; savory. Silky palate but too thin. Nonexistent carbonation and medium bodied. Very interesting stout but its lack of depth and power leave me underwhelmed.

Pitch black in colour with thin toffee coloured head. Sweet biscut, malty flavour. Bold mouth feel.

Minimal sloppy head of varying sized bubbles. Looks like another flat brew from BrewDog. Rich malty aroma with some prunes, roasted grains, milk chocolate and some dark fruit. Color is a very dark brown. Medium bodied but the palate is a bit on the thin side. Mild coffee, roasted grains, bittersweet chocolate and a decent bitterness late swallow. Finishes roasty and a bit grainy. A decent stout. Probably will appeal to stout drinkers that don’t like over the top BIG stouts.
