COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Cask & Bottled;
It was only a matter of time before the original BrewDog got his paws in on the action. This egotistical young lab has decided to make a beer which best reflects himself. This is the beer equivalent of the big, cute chocolate monster. Soft, smooth, dark, chocolately and very strong. This gentle giant will never bite but would much rather give you a big lick on the face.

Bottle at home in London. Thanks Paul. Pours black with reddish hints and a creamy, tan head. Has some dry and roasty malts in the aroma, with hints of chocolate. Medium sweet flavor, some mossy earth, moderate roast, light raw cocoa. Medium to full bodied with fine to average carbonation. Roasty finish, more moss and earth, light burnt sugar. Fairly dynamic. Good stuff.

Bottle shared at Whole Foods with Lyoli. Oily, black pour with a thick, beige head. Tons of chocolate, roasty malts on the nose. Great flavor, impeccably balanced, lots of mocha, smokey alcohol, sugary charcoal. Full bodied, warming with smooth carbonation. Very mild burn on the finish, lots of sweetness and medium length roasted malt linger. Great beer, incredibly drinkable.

Bottle. Black colour with a small creamy head. Aroma and taste of roasted malts, chocolate and vanilla with a nice hoppy finish.

1/15/12. 660mL bottle (I apparently have a penchant for weird bottle sizes lately). Opaque black pour with a big brown head that lasts forever. Strong aroma of saltiness, a bit of sour, roasted malts, and coffee. The flavor shows more sourness, creamy milk, chocolate, coffee, a bit of soy sauce, and more. Not bad.

7/30/10. Thanks to darn1207 for sharing! Black pour but lots of red, not jet when held to the light, basically no head. Sweet molasses and brown sugar aroma with a hint of roast. Sweet syrupy flavor with a finish of roast and charcoal - tastes like I’m chewing on the grain itself. Not bad.

Low and dense coffee head. Unclear dark brown to near black color. Rich aroma of roast, licorice and burnt caramel. Coffee, bitter licorice and chocolate is dominating the taste. Some sweetness and delicate hops underneath. Notes of alcohol. Healthy body, velvetly mouthfeel. Very nice. (Thanks to KnutAlbert for sharing)

330 ml bottle, at Olympen, Oslo. ABV was 8.0%. Dark ruby colour, nearly black. Minimal tan head, low carbonation. Nice aroma of roasted malts, sweetened coffee, chocolate and dark dried fruits. The flavour is fairly sweet with a distinct roastiness, notes of coffee, dark chocolate and liquorice.

22oz bottle from the Boise Co-op. Best before 09/09/09 so it’s 6 days over- no worries. Pours a very dark brown color with a small beige head. The aroma is great; sweet burnt caramel, chocolates, rich fruity malts. The flavor is great as well; smooth and rich chocolates, sweet milky flavors, light ash and smoke. Loads of cocoa and some dark fruit. Very quaffable. This damn good. A perfect ABV for a smooth and creamy brew.

Bottle. Opaque, shiny black with a thin, rather disappointing head. Aroma of burnt wood, smoke, coffee, vanilla. Strong flavor of roasted malts, coffee, alcohol heat, chocolate. Rich and somewhat complex, with bitter, burnt, dry finish. Body not enough to match the flavor-somewhat watery. Nice, tasty, bitter stout, but not the best package altogether.

Bottle while in San Diego on 08/01/2008 for the RBSG Friday Pub Crawl. Dark brown body with a small off-white head. Chocolate and roast aroma. Roast malt and caramel flavor. Medium full body with moderately low carbonation.
