COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Cask & Bottled;
It was only a matter of time before the original BrewDog got his paws in on the action. This egotistical young lab has decided to make a beer which best reflects himself. This is the beer equivalent of the big, cute chocolate monster. Soft, smooth, dark, chocolately and very strong. This gentle giant will never bite but would much rather give you a big lick on the face.

Bottle batch 006 best by 12/12/09. Decent oatmeal aromaalong with somesweet notes. Black flat head a can of RC has more of a carbinated head just to flaten out. Aweful thin body texture for an Imperial Stout. Sweet roasted oats and somedrycoco bittering. More like a sweet stout imo.

UPDATED: JAN 15, 2009 650 ml, batch 004, bb 9-9-09. Nearly opaque with a two-finger head that settles to an enduring quarter-inch and leaves a frosty-soapy lacing behind. Earthy aromas of cocoa, coffee and peat with hints of caramel and marshmallow. Tastes of coffee, chicory, dark chocolate, smoked peat and oak with just enough vanilla-caramel and a hint of apple to balance all the bitter roast flavors. Medium-heavy body is neither too watery nor too syrupy. Creamy smooth with light carbonation and slightly dry.

smells of alcohol and maybe a touch of caramell. dark amber color. charred, malty flavors with bitter astringency behind it. scottish tasting for sure with the maltiness going on but more on the alcoholic side rather than the thick side.. some nut skin flavors near the end. its drinkable though if nothing else.

Bottle. Pours an opaque black with a very small light tan head. Aroma of raisin, roasted malt, burnt malt, chocolate, roasted nuts. Flavor of sweet and roasted malt up front with a sweet finish. Aroma is nice and complex but the flavor/palate doesn’t match up. Just kind of dull to me. 7/4/7/3/14 (3.5/5)

660ml bottle, best by 9/9/09. Struggles to form a head but after a vigorous pour i am able to get a tightly foamed 2 finger head out of it. Surprisingly it takes awhile to recede and leaves ok lacing. It is off white. The beer is pitch black, I can barely make out the thinnest line of brown at the edges when held to light. It smells very caramally. and very sugary and malty. There is a hint of cocoa and roast coffee, but not a huge presence. The smell is a bit thin though. The mouthfeel is pretty under carbonated but it works decently with the style, the mouthfeel is reminiscent of Bell’s Expedition but not as good. The taste is of roast malt and some sweet malts. Not eloquent but still solid. It is a decent stout but nothing amazing. Serving type: bottle Reviewed on: 01-13-2010 02:58:52
