It was only a matter of time before the original BrewDog got his paws in on the action. This egotistical young lab has decided to make a beer which best reflects himself. This is the beer equivalent of the big, cute chocolate monster. Soft, smooth, dark, chocolately and very strong. This gentle giant will never bite but would much rather give you a big lick on the face.

330ml bottle, at home with renffisch, 17th June 2008. Pours a very dark, red-tinged brown. Lovely complex taste and aroma - apricots, chocolate, coffee, caramel, treacle, molasses, hops. Creamy & smooth yet not too cloying, this is a very drinkable stout indeed.

Dark, black colored brew. Nice aroma of roasted malts and dark chocolate. Flavor is roasted with nice smooth strong dark chocolate taste. The description is right. Nice chocolate IS, very enjoyable, especially if you like pure dark cholate.

Nice to have an 8% imperial for a change, that’s for sure. This is all roast and chocolate in the flavor, with a little bit of wet paper, and some hop spice (woodiness, slight pine sap). Aroma mostly of roasted grain. Nice conditioning - head stays throughout and keeps the beer lively - but perhaps too lively... This is certainly a beer you don’t want to start out with too cold, as it’ll go down too quickly. The flavor really develops at 55 deg.

Bottle (in NZ). Light ground coffee and nuts on the nose. Big mouthfeel, lots of roasted malt, touches of chocolate, a long dryness with a gravelly finish. A stout with a difference...

Bottle at Cockney Pub, Århus. Pours black with an off-white diminishing head and some lacings. Sweet with aromas of roasted malts. and residual sugars. Also aromas of brown sugars. Thin body. Same harsh/sharp BrewDog finish

Been awhile since I tasted this. From the notes I made I can only see I liked the dark color and the taste was better than I expected. Palate was good, full body finish.

a tad oily on the tongue, the beer has a lot of smoke with a BBQ overtone feel to it. the deep taste of smoke and slight coffee makes goes well with southern cooking. Yummy!!

tkrjukoff (2285) - SWEDEN - OCT 12, 2011
Bottle 33 cl, SB. Pours pitch black with a big creamy brown head leaving lace. Aroma is roasted malts, dark fruits, sweetish, caramel, lightly fruity, a bit soapy, chocolate and licorice. Flavor is acidy, fruity, very roasted, peaty, has some sweetness, a bit phenolic, fidges and chocolate. Finishes longlived dry bitter with fruity tones.
