Cask & Bottled;
It was only a matter of time before the original BrewDog got his paws in on the action. This egotistical young lab has decided to make a beer which best reflects himself. This is the beer equivalent of the big, cute chocolate monster. Soft, smooth, dark, chocolately and very strong. This gentle giant will never bite but would much rather give you a big lick on the face.

Bottle courtesy of tpd975. Pours a dark chocolate brown to black with reddish highlights and a thin tannish head. Aroma is malty and roasted with notes of funk, chocolate, smoke, some hints of dark ripe fruit. Flavor is malty and slightly smoky with notes of chocolate, hops, ripe dark fruit, and some hints of coffee and toffee. Generally medium body with a roasted and malty finish. Seemed a little thin with too much hop presence for me.

Bottle 33cl, a dark beer with a low brownish head that goes quickly. Nose is intense on chocolate notes. Aroma is on brown malt, bitter chocolate, caramel, molasse and roasted notes, beer is between syrupy and creamy texture, fruit side is on vanilla and dry grapes. Aftertaste is long on roasted and coffee notes, quite sweet, very pleasant stout.

Bottle 0,33ltr: Opaque black American-like but Scottish stout, intense bitter but got some chocolate sweetness.

Flaske: Sort øl med nærmest ingen skumkrone. Marginalt karbonering trækker voldsomt ned. Ellers en udmærket humlet imperial stout der er godt brændt, men ikke godt nok uden karbonering.

Pours like coffee in a cup that hadn’t been properly rinsed of it’s soapy suds. Very English and very short lived is the head froth and very little lacing. I smell molasses, chocolate, and coffee. Very light in body with watery carbonation. I have mixed feelings about this brew. On one hand it surely doesn’t compare to the usual kickass over the top specimens that I have come to crave. This one is more subdued (the title says ’’twisted merciless’’...over statement city) and refined. But on the other hand I can’t deny the overall complexities it offers. OK, so it has a bad head on it’s shoulders but the aromas is delightful and so is the flavor. Like I said, this is refined with flavors of roasted coffee bean, molasses, cake bread, cocoa, and a little English toffee. The finish lingers forever with a solid bittering component. I really could drink this all night. I would classify this as a Foreign Stout though.

Thanks McGavin. Very dark brown pour with a sudsy tan head that quickly turns into cappuccino froth. The aroma is earthy loam with lots of chocolate, vanilla, lactic sugars, roasted malt and a slight citrusy hop bitterness. the flavor is bitter roasted malt, further lactic sugars, coffee, chocolate, and more of that odd earthy loam. Very unique and weird, but I think it actually works. The palate is medium bodied with a supple smooth mouthfeel and medium carbonation. Quite nice.
