COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Cask & Bottled.
It was only a matter of time before the original BrewDog got his paws in on the action. This egotistical young lab has decided to make a beer which best reflects himself.
This is the beer equivalent of the big, cute chocolate monster.
Soft, smooth, dark, chocolately and very strong. This gentle giant will never bite but would much rather give you a big lick on the face.

NOTE: This beer and Old World Russian Imperial Stout ARE definitely the same beer. Direct, verbatim quote from James Watt follows.
""This is Rip Tide in a 660ml that we made exclusively for Total Wine and More (a US chain). By offering them something unique we were able to ensure they listed Punk and Hardcore

[330ml bottle, Sainsbury’s Edinburgh] Totally overflows on opening and becomes a gusher, which can happen with BrewDog beers. Pourwise it’s the expected deep black, with a thick consistency and a peaked tan head. The aroma is bitter dark coffee, which comes through on the taste - heavy coffee with slight smoky flavours, and a hint of liquorice before more bitterness and the alcohol punch follows. Sits at the harsh end of the imperial spectrum, rather than the smooth (i.e. Thornbridge St Petersburg) [28092010]

330 ml bottle from Premier Wine & Spirits (Halifax). Pours a dark brown with small beige head. Dry, roasty coffee aroma with chocolate and some herbal hops. Taste similar - quite dry with coffee and chocolate dominating at first but giving way to pleasant herbal bitterness in finish. Rather acidic. Creamy mouthfeel. Enjoyable.

Bottle. Pour is thin brown which looks black once glass is full and has a quick soapy tan head that fades fast. Aroma has licorice molasses and soy in it. Taste is more mollasses soy and licorice with a little chocolate as well. Palate is thin and flat with a chaulky dry finishes. Better than I was expecting.

jrallen34 is spot on the mark with this one. A very over-carbonated stout with some coffee and liquorice bubbling throughout. Not great at all

Cellar run at the Rake. Almost black with a tan head and good conditioning. Smooth and roasty with nice warm alcohol kick and pleny of chocolate. Would have liked a few more hops but still a cracking pint.

25.4oz bottle, batch 001. Poured deep reddish brown with a moderate sized tan head. Aroma of liquorice, roasted malt and chocolate. Flavor is sweet chocolate malt at first, which is then joined by citric hops. Finish is fairly bitter, with an ashy/salty mouthfeel.

manuchampions (1163) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - OCT 31, 2009
12oz bottle from 16th St. Liquor. Pours a murky coffee brown with thin head than vanishes quickly leaving only a ring of lacing. Aroma is viscous and inviting with treacle like malt and some caramel. Taste is less complex than promised by the nose with slightly smoky coffee notes and more caramel. Alcohol is reasonably integrated and the overall impression is positive but not overwhelming. Imperial stouts are tough because there are so many excellent examples available...makes it harder to give this any higher than a 4.

Large bottle via beer group. Pours a slick black with a mocha head. Body is surprisingly medium and is certainly an easy drinker. Nose of roasted almonds. Body is mostly chocolate with some pleasant patent tones weaving thru the shimmering glass. Carbonation is slow but steady. Nice one.

Bottle, chris_o shindig. Thick dark brown. Roasted cocoa, malt. Some milk chocolate. Malty mouth, thick, quite roasted burnt malt, coffee in there. Some dark fruit, caramel, roast on the palate. Rather bloody nice.
