It was only a matter of time before the original BrewDog got his paws in on the action. This egotistical young lab has decided to make a beer which best reflects himself.
This is the beer equivalent of the big, cute chocolate monster.
Soft, smooth, dark, chocolately and very strong. This gentle giant will never bite but would much rather give you a big lick on the face.

NOTE: This beer and Old World Russian Imperial Stout ARE definitely the same beer. Direct, verbatim quote from James Watt follows.
""This is Rip Tide in a 660ml that we made exclusively for Total Wine and More (a US chain). By offering them something unique we were able to ensure they listed Punk and Hardcore

Rich, dark stout with a thick, chocolate coloured head. Almost black, but with a red tinge. Aroma full of coffee, licorice, tobacco, dark chocolate. Tastes of all those things, but with some surprises- an almost milky chocolate creaminess, and some berries in there too. A definite hoppiness cuts through the cream, but more balanced than in some similar imperial stouts - I would say this is a much better hop/malt blend than Buxton’s Tsar for example, which has a similar load of flavours.

Bottle. Pretty much black, small brown head. Aroma of earthy dark chocolate, chicory. Taste has bitter chocolate, espresso. Tasty.

33 cl bottle@Jacob Aall, Majorstuen@approx 7 degrees C (too cold). Pours pitch black with dark beige head with ok retention. Aroma of dark malts and pleasant liqourice and alcohol. Rich taste of chocolate, toasted malt, liquorice, anis, sweetness and alcohol. The latter though in good balance considering the ABV. Gets much better as it warms up a bit, but lacks the last bit of complexity to match my top Imperial Stouts/Baltic Porters. However, do not be mistaken, this is a great beer and a very drinkalbe stout.

On tap at Brewdog Bristol -- Infused with coffee and star anise. This beer is so good, and the additions really add some interesting flavors and notes.

Bottle from Masuyo’s. Pours an inky black with no head. Bottle is good until 2018. Nose has some coffee, 85% cacao, with some wood and alcohol as it warms up. Syrupy mouthfeel with soft carbonation and medium body. Roasted coffee and burned caramel taste is present with some chocolate and fruit in there as well. Has a nice touch of sourness and bitterness. Slight warming finish with lingering bitterness. Decent enough but pretty one-dimensional.

Tap at Brewdog Glasgow. Lots of head (end of keg?) Nice looking, but very disappointing. Almost no flavour. It's bitter and there's a tiny bit of sweetness. Then dry at finish. I'm looking at this very attractive beer and wondering where the taste went... ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

330ml bottle. Black colour with a light brown foam head leaving lacing. Aroma is malty, roasted, treacle, brown sugar, coffee, nutty. Taste is sweet smokey roast malt, molasses, black fruits, coffee, dark chocolate bitter. Medium bodied, soft carbonation, dry roast bitter finish. Nicely drinkable.

Nice glossy black colour with a reasonable sized light tan head. Medium bodied with some good malt roast and balanced sweetness. Decent length. Not very challenging for the craft beer thrill seeker but fine for the craftsceptic.

Opaque inky black with fluffy tan head that dissipates. Smells of roasted malt, roasted coffee bean, some vanilla and booze. Taste is coffee, burnt malt, caramel, light spice and wood. Body is on the thin side, roasted and bitter with a hint of lemon. Deep and roasted and quite fine - not at all thick. Very tasty. Had it alongside the Founders Stout (which I love) and this made that taste more sour.
