4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 LordDrachen (107) - reggio emilia, ITALY - DEC 28, 2010
A well balanced stout. Black, with a brown head. Aroma is full of coffee, nuts, alcoholic hints. Peat is also perceived. Rather strong sweetness and bitterness with a very light salty taste. Medium to full body, warm mouthfeel. Great job.

Bottle. Pours a deep blackish brown color with with a small whitish head. Yeasty/bready aroma with strong milk chocolate undertones.. kinda like a chocolate dipped donut. The taste is subtler with thin chocolate and roasted malts in a silky envelope. Great brew.

From bottle. DLM Friday tasting. Pours dark brown with small tan head. Aroma of roasted malt, coffee and dark chocolate. Flavor continues with chocolate and coffee. Very rich mouthfeel. Alcohol is present but still a very good effort.

Bottle. Dark ruby, almost black, with only a small pale head that dissipates quickly. There are strong notes of roasted malt, dark chocolate and coffee on the nose with lesser hints of lavender. It is almost creamy on the palate without being thick or overly dense. The flavour is less agressive than the nose (or the packaging) would suggest-it is almost graceful without being dainty.
4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20 chickenflea (227) - Oviedo, Florida, USA - MAY 17, 2010
22-oz bottle. This is not the kind of in your face imperial stout that I often encounter. It is more like an aggressive version of the traditional british stout. Color is dark brown with very little head with a soapy, lasting lace. Aroma is lactose, chocolate, coffee, intense roast, and alcohol. The alcohol bothered me at first. I swished it around quite a bit to let it breathe. Mouthfee is very smooth - the flavor is extremely roasty, with a lot of coffee character - some sweet chocolate malts ride through the middle, with a bit of plum and dark berry fruitiness as well - but a strong bitterness comes from behind that, making the other characteristics aside from the roastiness disappear from the palate pretty fast - the bitterness lasts quite some time through the finish, but the alcohol never presented itself as I had expected it would. - the dryness and bitterness work well in this one, and I kind of find it refreshing to have an impy that isn’t so over the top. It is one of my very favorites now.

UPDATED: NOV 17, 2011 0,33l bottle from Csakajósör, Budapest.
Black nontransparente stout with brown head. Caramel, coffee, alcohol aroma. Bitter-sweet taste, really mixed and really delicious. Full body, oily creamy thick texture. Soft cabonation and long bitter-sweat finish. It’s a really ritch taste, sweet, smoke, coffee. I like the sweetness of the malt and the bitterness of the hop. This is what I call Imperial Stout! :)
