Cask & Bottled;
It was only a matter of time before the original BrewDog got his paws in on the action. This egotistical young lab has decided to make a beer which best reflects himself. This is the beer equivalent of the big, cute chocolate monster. Soft, smooth, dark, chocolately and very strong. This gentle giant will never bite but would much rather give you a big lick on the face.

Cask @ Bon Accord. Nice and surprising to have had this one in Bon Accord, probably the first IS I encountered there! Hopefully there will be more coming along. Black colour, creamy tan head. Aroma of roasted malts, vanilla, sweet tarts and coffee. Flavour of bitter coffee, roasted malts and chocolate. Slightly bitter finish.

Bottle looks good as well as the beer in the glass. Starts roasty-malty, spicy notes and some notes of coffee. Finish gets drier, but still wonderful roasty-malty, quite drinkable. I like it!

Bottle from ’Beersofeurope.co.uk’: Very dark sout with very little head. Aroma of roadted malt and chocolate. Flavour is lots of roasted malt with a little burntness, nice caramel notes. Nice and thick as I like in an imperial stout. Reaaly good one.

Keg at Brewdog Camden. Black/dark brown colour with big frothy and creamy golden head. Aroma bit of coffee, roast malt, lots of oats. Taste, slight bitterness, roasty coffee malt, bit dark chocolate. Bitter roasty finish. Very nice.

Lots of UK yeast strain permeates this Imperial Stout. Orchard fruit undertones buffer the coffee/choco flavors that reside in the middle of each taste. A sugary spicy finish ends up completing the thought, with spot on bitterness, whilst leaving one’s palate slightly moist for the next gulp. Alcohol presence is less than detectable for an 8% stout, but overall mouthfeel and viscosity is a tad underwhelming. Slightly thinner than I’d enjoy, with less carbonation than most comparable brews.

Bottle, 33cl, from Vinmonopolet, Oslo. Batch 457 (BB 21.12.2011). Black colour with a golden hue. Inch-thick beige head, quickly reducing to a thin lacing. Lovely dark roasted malt aroma with some fruitiness, tar, coffee, chocolate. Medium body, slick, a tad watery. Soft carbonation. Taste is somewhat salty, but well-balanced. Long, rich aftertaste with good bitterness. Great stout.

Bottle. Brown verging on black, large light tan head that never quite disappears. Aroma of mocha, toast, grass, vanilla. Hints of dark fruit and seaweed. Quite sweet at first with caramel and chocolate, then roasted bitterness and pine step up but don’t quite take over. Alcohol is there (perhaps seems stronger than 8%) but well-integrated. Not all that complex, but nice weight and balance. Very drinkable.
