COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Cask & Bottled;
It was only a matter of time before the original BrewDog got his paws in on the action. This egotistical young lab has decided to make a beer which best reflects himself. This is the beer equivalent of the big, cute chocolate monster. Soft, smooth, dark, chocolately and very strong. This gentle giant will never bite but would much rather give you a big lick on the face.

Bottle,poured dark brown. nose was coffee and burnt malts. Flavor was similar to the nose with a big rich finish, and slightly thinner mouthful for the style.

a wonderful bread like aroma with hints of chocolate and coffee, the appearance is a deep brown black with hardly any head. The taste at first is faint then it gets better with nice heavy malty finish. The feel on the palate is slightly sticky which is normal for this my favorite style with a long finish. Great brew an will probably visit this again.

330 ml bottle. Deep, dark brown colour, thin light brown head. Aroma of roasted malts, coffee, dark chocolate and a whiff of dark fruits. Strongly roasted, a little burnt flavour with coffee and plenty of chocolate. Dry, ashy bitter finish. Smooth, oily, full-bodied, low carbonation. A very enjoyable stout.

Cellar run at the Rake. Almost black with a tan head and good conditioning. Smooth and roasty with nice warm alcohol kick and pleny of chocolate. Would have liked a few more hops but still a cracking pint.

UPDATED: AUG 2, 2010 Butter’s 4th cellar reduction. Pours dark brown with a thin tan head. Cherry, caramel and biscuit aromas. Taste is slight licorice, coffee and chocolate with alcohol coming through the nose. Nice bitter finish. score 3.5..........8/2/2010-Riptide Black mahogany edges thin tan head. Bottle says 004 best by 9-9-09, One pint, 6.4 fl oz. I guess it’s even a mellower mellow imp stout now. Aroma of caramel, molasses, hazelnut, ash,, dark fruit, dark chocolate, cream, a touch of butter. Taste is very nice, lots of chocolatey malt with some burnt and toasted malt on the finish along with coffee beans. I can see why this isn’t one of the higher rated Imp Stouts but damn it’s still really good at this age. Very soft on the palate, still tons of flavor, creamy, smooth, silky, lightly carbonated. Alcohol is not noticeable. At 6.99 I got a deal considering the store I bought it from aged it for me for a while, it was not refrigerated but on the bottom shelf, behind other things out of the light and caked in dust.

33cl bottle: This pours a dark, reddish brown with a creamy beige head. Nice stout-y aroma, coffee, brown sugar, subtle resiny hops and dense, powdery cocoa. Nice roasty taste, slightly minerally and hoppy (earthy) with a great balance between sweetness, bitterness and hints of alcohol. Mild carbonation gives a medium-bodied, creamy mouthfeel. The balance here is actually really nice: the sweetness is up front at first and makes you think that it will dominate, but the finish is immediately dry and the bitterness from the roasted malts and the hops takes over. Very well-brewed Stout!

The base for all of the barrel aged imperial stouts. Pours very dark brown, close to black, with a smooth tan head. Big dark chocolate character, very smooth palate, dry finish. Overall a really nice imperial stout and the perfect base for their barrel experiments. This is one of the few non-barrel beers I thought were worth their price, very well built and solid imperial stout.
