COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Cask & Bottled.
It was only a matter of time before the original BrewDog got his paws in on the action. This egotistical young lab has decided to make a beer which best reflects himself.
This is the beer equivalent of the big, cute chocolate monster.
Soft, smooth, dark, chocolately and very strong. This gentle giant will never bite but would much rather give you a big lick on the face.

NOTE: This beer and Old World Russian Imperial Stout ARE definitely the same beer. Direct, verbatim quote from James Watt follows.
""This is Rip Tide in a 660ml that we made exclusively for Total Wine and More (a US chain). By offering them something unique we were able to ensure they listed Punk and Hardcore

UPDATED: AUG 11, 2011 Wow!

cask at the three judges- pours opaque with a foamy head. smells roasted malts chocolate tastes hop character is much stronger now than in the bottle version, at least that i can remember. it is wonderful, great condition, tastes spot on. there is a long citrus finish, but begins with chocolate, and roasted flavors. each mouthful is something different. it is a great brew.

An almost black colored beer, with a thick foamy beige head. The aroma of burned malts with fruits like dark cherries with some raisins. The taste id dry, there smoked malt, bitter of chocalte with some little sweets of fruits. The aftertaste is dry bitter with smoke and a little spices.

330ml bottle. Pours an opaque black, with a huge tan head, which lasts extremely well, and leaves excellent lace. There is a strong Turkish coffee aroma, with a hint of molasses lurking in the background. Oily pine hops start it off, before being briefly replaced by a slight briny taste. This is soon overcome by sweet Turkish coffee and a bitter dark chocolate finish. This is a very well balanced stout, especially for an 8% imperial stout, and another good effort from Brewdog.

Bottle from the cold case at a Vancouver private liquor store. Almost black in color under normal room lighting, yields a hint of reddish brown tones under strong back-lighting. A straight pour into a tapered glass brought about 5 cm of head, about the color of chocolate milk. Aroma is sweet with notes of well roasted malts. Flavor is rich and sweet with, the well roasted, slightly burnt malt yielding flavors of chocolate and coffee, both pronounced, and quite hoppy to boot. Mouth feel is rich; a bit oily. The high alcohol is evident. A world class imperial stout.

Bottle at pub. Pours a black colour with a small light brown head that stays all the way to the last sip. Nice! Fantastic aromas of coffee, dark bitter chocolate and dried fruits. I find the same good stuff in the flavour along with some wood. The beer feels both thick and smooth, and the carbonation make it feels like a coffe smoothie. I could eat this with a spoon! Medium bitterness. A lovely stout. More, please!

tostata con sentori di liquirizia morbida amara e corposa con un finale un po troppo agressivo
