Bottle... NFL Day at dchmela’s in O-Town... Pitch black with a mid-sized, creamy, off-white head. The aroma is a collaboration of chocolate, vanilla and tree nuts. Full-bodied with a creamy mouthfeel and moderate carbonation. Chocolaty and a touch boozy. Big, burnt bitterness. Lengthy, chocolaty, bitter finish.
3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 BBB63 (4939) - La Porte, Indiana, USA - JUL 18, 2008
Bottle and served in my Stone IRS snifter: Basically opaque with an initial frothy tan head which fades and leaves okay lace upon the glass. The aroma has notes of plum, prune, chocolate, anise, coffee, and charred malts. The taste is quite balanced with sweet malt, acidity, bitters, and some ashy and spicy notes upon the finish. While the mouth feel could use a tad more thickness, it is still smooth and very drinkable. Overall a very solid Impy.
3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 Tmoney99 (6894) - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - JUL 30, 2009
Bottle from Belmont Party.
Poured a clear dark brown color with a large frothy brown head that lasted with excellent lacing. Moderate to heavy roasted chocolate, dark fruit and alcohol aroma. Heavy bittersweet roasted malty flavor with a heavy bittersweet finish of moderate to long duration. Full body with a smooth texture and flat carbonation.
This is a very good beer.
3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 yalnikim (800) - Wellington, NEW ZEALAND - MAY 7, 2008
Tasted 05/05/2008. 330ml bottle from Rumble’s. Inky black, as you’d expect, with a tight tan head that fades to virtually nothing. Very good but lacking a depth of character in the mouth. Fruity espresso on the nose - hints of berry couli, dark chocolate, caramel, burnt toast and alcohol. Subdued esters, American yeast? Roasty, toasty notes dominate the mouth front front to back, with a nice underlying caramel note and a very light lick of diacetyl. Medium weight, medium-low carbonation. Lingering astringency. A very nice beer but it lacks the finesse to incite poetic ravings...

Low and dense coffee head. Unclear dark brown to near black color. Rich aroma of roast, licorice and burnt caramel. Coffee, bitter licorice and chocolate is dominating the taste. Some sweetness and delicate hops underneath. Notes of alcohol. Healthy body, velvetly mouthfeel. Very nice. (Thanks to KnutAlbert for sharing)

(Bottle, Stockholm Beer Festival, 27 Sep 2008) Very dark brown colour with brief, beige head. Roasted, malty nose with notes of coffee, chocolate and liquorice. Roasted, malty taste with dark bitter chooclate, coffee, liquorice and a nice cocoa bitterness in the finish. Fairly sweet, slightly above medium body. The last sentence of the commercial description puts it quite well. Very nice beer.
