COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Cask & Bottled;
It was only a matter of time before the original BrewDog got his paws in on the action. This egotistical young lab has decided to make a beer which best reflects himself. This is the beer equivalent of the big, cute chocolate monster. Soft, smooth, dark, chocolately and very strong. This gentle giant will never bite but would much rather give you a big lick on the face.

Bottled. Small beige head with big bubbles. Beer itself is pitch back. The nose had sewer-like and unpleasant off flavor that luckily vanished soon. Aroma has sweetish milk chocolate, salty and smoky rostedness of dark malts, some tar and coal. Burnt coffee, dark chocolate and good hoppy punch in the finish. The flavor is salty and dark malty. Well roasted and bitter finish. Milk chocolate gives balancing sweetness. The alcohol is well hidden. The palate is full bodied, heavily roasted, thick, oily and low carbonated.

Bottle. Pours black with a large, brown head. Aroma of roasted malts, coffee, chocolate and a bit of salty licorice. Flavor is the same with a hint of hops towards the finish. A little thin and a little chalky but overall pretty good.

330 ml bottle. Blackish-brown color, low brown head. Roasted malt and coffee aroma with a hint of tobacco. Very dry, bitter flavor with espresso and smoked wood. Full body, light carbonation. Pretty good -- it definitely stands out from the crowd.

330 ml bottle from Premier Wine & Spirits (Halifax). Pours a dark brown with small beige head. Dry, roasty coffee aroma with chocolate and some herbal hops. Taste similar - quite dry with coffee and chocolate dominating at first but giving way to pleasant herbal bitterness in finish. Rather acidic. Creamy mouthfeel. Enjoyable.

Bottle. It’s dark brown with deep ruby red in the colour and a thin brown head. Aroma is relatively mild with dark chocolate and roasted coffee beans. There’s some distant hop aroma in there too. Body is smooth and full. Flavour is quite dry, becoming more complex with plenty of coffee and creamy dark chocolate. Finish is long and dry.

33 cl bottle @ home. #264: BBE 16.03.2011
Aroma has lots of cocoa, some roasted malt and hints of coffee. Flavour has coffee and hints of cocoa, some sips give also some unpleasant metal and harsh bitterness in the finish. Rather thin palate. Cold coffee in the aftertaste. Decent IS.
