COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Cask & Bottled.
It was only a matter of time before the original BrewDog got his paws in on the action. This egotistical young lab has decided to make a beer which best reflects himself.
This is the beer equivalent of the big, cute chocolate monster.
Soft, smooth, dark, chocolately and very strong. This gentle giant will never bite but would much rather give you a big lick on the face.

NOTE: This beer and Old World Russian Imperial Stout ARE definitely the same beer. Direct, verbatim quote from James Watt follows.
""This is Rip Tide in a 660ml that we made exclusively for Total Wine and More (a US chain). By offering them something unique we were able to ensure they listed Punk and Hardcore

UPDATED: FEB 6, 2012 Bottle from BrewDog online store. It pours very dark brown, with a big beige head. The nose is coffee, dark fruit (particularly blackcurrant), chocolate, nut, liquorice and cake. The taste is dark chocolate, treacle, caramel, filter coffee, dark fruit (blackcurrant and plum), toast, roasted malt, solid bitterness and alcohol warmth, with a dry-roast finish. Medium to full body and moderate carbonation. Tasty and very drinkable.

[330ml bottle, Sainsbury’s Edinburgh] Totally overflows on opening and becomes a gusher, which can happen with BrewDog beers. Pourwise it’s the expected deep black, with a thick consistency and a peaked tan head. The aroma is bitter dark coffee, which comes through on the taste - heavy coffee with slight smoky flavours, and a hint of liquorice before more bitterness and the alcohol punch follows. Sits at the harsh end of the imperial spectrum, rather than the smooth (i.e. Thornbridge St Petersburg) [28092010]

Roasted, chocolate, coffee and all the other usuals. A bit of wood. Very nice for a stout; drinkable, tasty. But as an is a tad light.

33 cl bottle from bierzwerg.de. Dark brown/black colour with medium, cream head. Nice looking beer in general with nicely lacing head. Aroma is coffee, chocolate, hops, molasses, roasted malts and dark fruits (plums, prunes etc). Nice, a bit sweet flavour with coffee and choclate notes and lightly to medium bitter ending. Medium to bitter bodied with nice feel overall. Very nice imp stout that’s very good for it’s ABV.

Hieman kuivaa tavaraa. Humalointi tuntuu etenkin jälimaussa. Suutuntuma on pehmeä ja liukas. Ei kovinkaan moniulotteinen, mutta hyvin toimiva olut.

What a belter of a stout. Deep dark tanned color, purple tint. Dark fruit taste, great balance of malt. Caramel stout aromas present. I appreciate the way the flavor and heat intensify on the palate. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Cask. Dark with a lovely creamy head. Strong notes of mocha and chocolate on the nose. The taste is a little dry and grassy, the hops are well appreciated. Roasted flavors too. The body’s light, dry and a bit watery. Easy to drink. Nice, deceivingly strong stout.
