COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Cask & Bottled.
It was only a matter of time before the original BrewDog got his paws in on the action. This egotistical young lab has decided to make a beer which best reflects himself.
This is the beer equivalent of the big, cute chocolate monster.
Soft, smooth, dark, chocolately and very strong. This gentle giant will never bite but would much rather give you a big lick on the face.

NOTE: This beer and Old World Russian Imperial Stout ARE definitely the same beer. Direct, verbatim quote from James Watt follows.
""This is Rip Tide in a 660ml that we made exclusively for Total Wine and More (a US chain). By offering them something unique we were able to ensure they listed Punk and Hardcore

Yummy aroma of roasted malt and chocolate. The taste is round and soft with a distinct touch of roasted malt. Unfortunately, the aftertaste has in my oppinion to much bitterness and also to much burnt taste with hints of cigarette ash.

Bottle from Systembolaget, Stockholm, Sweden. Pours a pitch black with a high but kind of thin light brown foam. Aroma has a lot of coffee and a slight grassy note. Taste is slightly roasted with a bit of bitterness, or well, quite a bit for a stout. Mouthfeel is thin for such a dark beer.

Black (at least in this light) with a thin dark tan head. The aroma is alcohol, slight petroleum/oily, chocolate, leather and sweet dark fruit. Taste is more more dark fruits, malts and coffee with too much alcoholtaste imo. Good, but far from my favourite stout.

Close to black and covered by a fair beige head. Immediately roasty nose quickly hints at chocolate, but more of a milk type than the real stuff as considerable residual sugars can be perceived in here. Earthy and leafy nuances act as a complement while a sharper citrus tone peaks into the finish. A rather simple example – it’s no wonder that most ratings can barely reach 2 to 3 lines, yet the ratings remain sky high. Go figure.

Clear dark brown pour and no head. Gave me a bit of a "hiss" when I opened it but it clearly has lost some of it’s intended carbonation. At least, I hope is has. Dark fruity and roasted aroma, sour and dark roast flavor. Thin bodied but smooth and silky. the carbonation is lacking, as I mentioned and that cost it a few points. If I see it locally later I’ll give it another try. A bit disappointing, this.

Pours a rich amber brown color with almost no head. Aroma is roast, caramel, some brown sugar, and some chocolate. Flavor is brown sugar, caramel, roast, plum, and a bitter roast finish.

Thanks to my sweetness kaggie. A little thin. Flavor is whack. I wish he would have just given me his love juice instead.

malt and alchohol in aroma, slight chocolate note. dark brown with a virtually nonexsitant head some sweet malt in the flavor along with bitter chocolate. very low carbonation, almost flat, gives this beer a thin mouthfeel. finishes slighty bitter. not sure if it’s this batch, though this is the third bottle I’ve tried from this run and they all seem flat. Decent beer, could have been great with proper carbonation.
