COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Cask & Bottled.
It was only a matter of time before the original BrewDog got his paws in on the action. This egotistical young lab has decided to make a beer which best reflects himself.
This is the beer equivalent of the big, cute chocolate monster.
Soft, smooth, dark, chocolately and very strong. This gentle giant will never bite but would much rather give you a big lick on the face.

NOTE: This beer and Old World Russian Imperial Stout ARE definitely the same beer. Direct, verbatim quote from James Watt follows.
""This is Rip Tide in a 660ml that we made exclusively for Total Wine and More (a US chain). By offering them something unique we were able to ensure they listed Punk and Hardcore

22-oz bottle. This is not the kind of in your face imperial stout that I often encounter. It is more like an aggressive version of the traditional british stout. Color is dark brown with very little head with a soapy, lasting lace. Aroma is lactose, chocolate, coffee, intense roast, and alcohol. The alcohol bothered me at first. I swished it around quite a bit to let it breathe. Mouthfee is very smooth - the flavor is extremely roasty, with a lot of coffee character - some sweet chocolate malts ride through the middle, with a bit of plum and dark berry fruitiness as well - but a strong bitterness comes from behind that, making the other characteristics aside from the roastiness disappear from the palate pretty fast - the bitterness lasts quite some time through the finish, but the alcohol never presented itself as I had expected it would. - the dryness and bitterness work well in this one, and I kind of find it refreshing to have an impy that isn’t so over the top. It is one of my very favorites now.

W aromacie mnóstwo czekolady i kakao, słodko - gorzki. W smaku podwyższona pełnia, czekolada, dobrze ukryty alkohol, troszkę ziołowa goryczka. Bardzo solidny RIS, choć do najlepszych mu daleko.

Illata némiképp visszafogottabb ízvilágot sejtet, mint amire számítani lehetett, s valóban, az ízek intenzitása véletlenül sem megy a könnyen fogyaszthatóság rovására. Fő jellegzetessége a kávés, tejes, pörkölt zamatok ízharmóniája a komló erőteljes háttértámogatásával. A mindent letaroló, robusztus jelleg ez esetben tehát mérsékeltebben érvényesül, könnyedebb hangvétele miatt azonban talán a mérsékeltebb befogadókészséggel bírók érdeklődésére is számot tarthat.

330ml bottle from Sainsburys. Almost black, good head. Treacle alcohol malt aroma. Sweet spicy treacle malt flavour. Bitter chocolately alcohol aftertaste. Sorry but this is not my sort of beer.

Bottle at BrewDog, Edinburgh. Pours black with a medium-sized frothy head. Aroma is very malty; it has plenty of dark chocolate and cocoa and a hint of hoppiness in the background. Taste starts sweetish and ends dryish; very roasty, rich and solid. Hops add variety and balance in the finish. The palate is medium to full bodied and sticky. Surprisingly drinkable despite strength. Quality stuff from BrewDog: intense but balanced.
