3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 madsberg (7568) - Søborg, - APR 27, 2011
Bottled. dark burgundy coloured. Dense light brown head. Aroma of brown cookies and loads of other christmas spices (cinnamon, cardamom and orangepeel) totally dominating. Flavour of spice, orange, brown cookies, fruits, light roast. Medium bodied. Ends on a very spiced note.
1.9 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 6/20 Arve_Christian (612) - Oslo, NORWAY - MAY 18, 2012
Backlog november 2011
Medium body & high complexity
Intense aromas of christmas spices
More balanced then "There is no Santa", but I do not apprieciate the spices
3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 Frenger (213) - Derby, Alabama, ENGLAND - APR 26, 2012
Bottle from brewdog.com. One of the nicer christmas beers I have had. Riptide with some festive spices but not too much. Could be a bit thicker though. Nice
3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 Scopey (1659) - Croydon, Greater London, ENGLAND - APR 25, 2012
Bottle as a gift when I visited the Brewdog Brewery! It pours deep brown, with a decent beige head. The nose is ginger, nutmeg, cinnamon, roasted malt and caramel. The taste is roasted malt, toast, high level of spice (ginger, cinnamon and nutmeg), bitter chocolate, hint of alcohol warmth and some sweet dark fruit, with a bitter-dry finish. Medium body and average carbonation. The spice clearly dominates this beer, but not necessarily in a bad way. All-round a decent Christmas beer. I much prefer this to the "There is no Santa".
3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 Cunningham (1940) - Halden, NORWAY - MAR 14, 2012
Black colour with a beige head. Holy santa. Not to far away from Nøgne Ø Underlig Jul. But in a small bottle. Probably smart sometimes. Lovely christmas spices aroma. Cocoa, cinnamon, cardamom and ginger. Hard to detect it all. But it is a beer you just dont pour down the throat. Fine and rich flavour with cocoa, cinnamon, cardamom and ginger. You do not need all this boring christmas cookies when you can drink this ;-) Bottle from Vinmonopolet in Halden, Norway
3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 abemorsten (1316) - Randaberg, NORWAY - JAN 25, 2012
330 ml bottle kindly provided by my beer pal, Björn. Pours black with a small, creamy, brown head. Ginger, cardamum and Christmas spices on the nose. Most inviting. Wooden notes are also detectable. Full bodied and smooth. Spicy and roasted flavors with liquorice present. Spicy and bitter finish. A nice challenge to the palate and taste buds. Couldn’t sense the cocoa though.
3.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 tfredvik (374) - Oslo, NORWAY - DEC 30, 2011
Black body with a red tint and a large, creamy, brown head that is quite short-lived and that leaves small amounts of lacings on the glass. The aroma is… oh yes, I get that christmas feeling! Very spicy: gingerbread with extra ginger! Also sweet dark fruits and berries (overripe black currant), port wine and chocolate. The aroma led me to expect a spicy, malty, complex and very sweet taste, but the sweetness is light, the bitterness is medium plus and the flavours are a bit one dimensional: ginger overdose. I also get some nutmeg, dark bitter chocolate and resin. An interesting and actually quite nice biting hot ginger bitter dryness in the aftertaste, although it leaves my throat rather dry. It reminds me of an aggressive ginger ale soft drink I had in Tokyo once: good fun but a bit too much.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 berlinoise2go (379) - NORWAY - DEC 18, 2011
Bottle (33cl) from Vinmonopolet (Vika), Oslo. Black colour with a faint red hue. Half-inch beige head that reduces fairly fast, but leaves a clinging band of lacing. Very spicy aroma of cinnamon, cardamom, nutmeg, ginger, cloves, roasted malt, cola, caramel, licorice. Taste is quite dry (like raw licorice), with a background malty sweetness. The ginger becomes too dominant. Quite bitter aftertaste with cloves. Medium body, soft carbonation.
2.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 7/20 Finn (2613) - Tromsø, NORWAY - DEC 5, 2011
Flaske 0,33l fra Vinmonopolet, bestillingsutvalget. Batch 245. Drukket hjemme 2 Jun 11. Sort.
2.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20 Tequilakongen (287) - Oslo, NORWAY - NOV 12, 2011
Aroma of liquorice, cloves, chocolate. Liquorice dominates the aroma. It reminds me of mid-European snaps, and I didn’t find particularly tasty. Colour is dark brown whilst the head is tanned. (Bottle)
3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 esp0r (792) - NORWAY - OCT 28, 2011
UPDATED: NOV 13, 2011 Bottle shared at Amundsen
Black, tanned lacings. Aroma of india. I identify at least clove and ginger. Also cummin. Weird spices. Taste has ginger and feels thin. No sweetness. Christmas is here. Good bitter finish but not the best christmas beer i’ve tried
