Keg at Brewdog Camden. Dark brown with medium sized dark beige head. Aroma, bit of honey, bit of smoke, bit coffee, lots of roast malt and a bit of black treacle.Taste is sweet and quite nice. Slightly herbal and lots of black treacle. Nice.

[keg at BrewDog Edinburgh] Brownish black pour, thin tan-coloured head. Dark chocolate on the nose, plenty of rich, spicy malt body in evidence. Similarly on the taste - the malt works quite well. Finishes quite sweet, with plenty of body. Rich all the way, but I thought the balance kept the whole thing in check [29122011]

On tap at BrewDog Camden. Very malty but drinkable at the same time. some heat. Pretty decent to be honest and i could sip it all night

[Keg at Brewdog Camden] Very dark reddish-brown with a large cream head. Rather sweet aroma. Tastes sweet too - loads of toffee, some red wine, and some wood. Behind this there’s a heavy roasted, almost burnt bitterness and some liquorice that clashes with (rather than complementing or contrasting) the sweetness. It’s OK, but was a disappointment after the excellent Blitz.

Bottle. Pours really dark with a thin tanned head. Sweet smokey aroma with a lot of malt character. Not as malty as I assumed on the taste but lots of toffee and smoke. Really nice.

Keg at BD. Really dark brown with a beige head. Tastes more like a porter. Misplaced sweetness. Tangy sweetness. This was really poor. All over the place. Not a scotch ale. Shite.

Keg at BrewDog Camden, London. Pours dark brown with a creamy, beige top. Dark toast, caramel, toffee, cocoa in the aroma. Flavor is very sweet with toffee, candy, light chocolate, alcohol-soaked leaves and berries. Full bodied with fine carbonation. Warm, fairly sticky finish, lots of candied sugar, sweet toast, brown sugar, alcohol, caramel. Nicely nuanced beer. Certainly sweet, so it helps if you like that.

Pours darkest red with minimal head. Metallic aroma with cola and some fruitiness. Taste is a bit metallic, cola, some chocolate and coffee. Thin watery mouthfeel with a sticky finish. Quite disappointing, uninteresting.

On keg at The BrewDog Bar. Pours a very dark brown colour with a thin light tan head. Aroma of chocolate, alcohol, black pepper and caramel. Flavours of dark chocolate, alcohol, toffee and hazelnut. Mild carbonation and an oily mouth-feel. OK.

A very dark, almost black ale with a thin head, a smoky almost molasses aroma, surprisingly sweet to taste. Definitely a keeper.
