A 7.1% black IPA brewed by our shareholders. Boasting 80 IBUs, we double dry hopped the beer with mountains of Amarillo, Columbus, Chinook, Cascade and Centennial hops. After dry hopping we wanted to add a little more depth and another layer of complexity to the beer so we aged it on toasted oak chips for a further 2 weeks.

Bought a case of this before I was a shareholder, found it by accident on the site at about a quid a pop. Never really got the oak edge, but remember the massive piney hops. Twas good stuff.

Bottle - sampled at home. Pours deep brown with a small lingering head. Nice thick lacing. Aroma of light malt, green paprica and fresh coffee beans slightly roasted. Light to medium body with a gentle roasty touch, nice sweetness and bitterness appearing as from the middle. Taste is crisp malts/toast and coffee. Balances on the edge with being a porter, but the hop character puts it right back to IPA. Very nice beer.

Opaque black - brown beer. Decent pale tan head. Smooth palate with fine carbonation. Light. Mild and light dark malt. Lots of piney hops, smooth. Finishes minerally with a trace of hop fruits. Nice - a super smooth Black IPA - quite delicate and sophisticated!

Shared bottle at local tasting, thanks to Odland. Black colour, moderate beige head. Strong aroma of American hops with notes of resin and grapefruit, but also moderate roasty notes from the malts in the background, hints of oak. The flavour is hoppy and distinctly bitter, with citrussy and resinous notes. Also roasty notes of coffee, some wood.
