COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Sink the Bismarck! is beer, amplified. With the volume turned full up, it is important you that you be careful with this beer and show it the same amount of sceptical, tentative respect you would show an international chess superstar, clown or gypsy. Sink the Bismarck is a quadruple IPA that contains four times the hops, four times the bitterness and frozen four times to create at a staggering 41% ABV. This is IPA amplified, the most evocative style of the craft beer resistance with the volume cranked off the scale. Kettle hopped, dry hopped then freeze hopped for a deep fruit, resinous and spicy aroma. A full out attack on your taste-buds ensues as the incredibly smooth liquid delivers a crescendo of malt, sweet honey, hop oils and a torpedo of hop bitterness which lasts and lasts.

4 cl from a previously opened bottle. Dark reddish copper color with no head. Strong aroma of caramel, sugar and alcohol. Flavors are salt, cyrup caramel. Oily and sticky feel. Nice warming finish from alcohol.

Was given a bottle for a tasting at a homebrewers case swap. Over-the-top as expected and not particularly easy to drink. Aroma totally dominated by hot alcohol with some toffee/carmel notes emerging from underneath. Head consisted of a scattering of coarse bubbles that quickly vanished. Viscous and really sticky mouthfeel. Hot alcohol lingeres throughout the finish although there is a pleasant malt/toffee presence at the end. Still I was glad to have had it.

bottle. Mahogany, clear. Nose has a lot of nutty oakyness. Sherry-like. Body is oily, hot. A bunch of phenols coming through on the nose as well. Not as medicinal as the nuclear penguin, but rather sherry- like. Oily, sticky sweet. A bit of licorice. But too much alc. Compared to the penguin, this is a lot more on the caramel-side. Sweetish malts, honey and really hot. The penguin was more port wine- like, oxidated, aged and more easily drunk.

Pours dark orange colour and looks like a shot of whisly or liquor. Sweet light caramel aroma. Medium sweetness in the taste, toffee caramel and warming feeling. Full body, oily feel, no carbonation and a remisence of the flavor and short aftertaste.

From bottle to glass, 0,01cl at Øltorget. Clear golden brown color. Massive alcohol, faint hops, citrus, piney notes in aroma. Tar, sweet, mild citric hops and colossal alcohol in taste. Dry, bitter, raisins in aftertaste. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Pours clear copper color with a minimal head. Aroma of hops, malts, ripe fruits and caramel, some alcohol and toffee as well. Flavor of caramel, mild ripe fruits, toffee, alcohol and resin. Better than I expected.

Wow. A lot of people have a lot to say about this one. I was surprised how smooth it is for the percentage. Extremely warming with the alcohol but also complex spicy fruity hop character. Definitely worth trying.

330ml bottle (Xmas gift from my wife). Spirit glass. From my notes. Deep amber color, foggy appearance. Very strong flavors & aromas. I love rhum, well, it performs like ir does. Smooth upfront then a burning big bang in mouth. Amazing light body but, after some drop, it makes you feel like being drinking beer for hours. Tastes as an amplified flavor & aroma beer. Nearly unexisting froth but master carbonation.: I had have it after diners for several days & I have to say that everytime I opened it, it sounded “pop”. Incredible drinking experience. Perfect pairing with butter & anise cookies.

Mjollnir (366) - Canberra, AUSTRALIA - AUG 18, 2012
2012 production, thanks to a friend in England for mailing a bottle, saving about $110 over the best store price in Australia. Pours clear amber-red with no head, leaving some thin legs, any number of aged spirits would be doing quite well to look like this without artificial colourant. Malty and slightly hoppy aroma with a lot of alcohol. Flavours of clean malt as if it’s a scotch malt whisky but the alcohol very quickly overpowers the early sweetness, with a reasonably amount of bitterness too, with a yeast extract note mixing in later on. Unfortunately the hop bitterness is not clean or sharp and only reminds me of a tainted scotch whisky. Medium bodied, no carbonation, fairly dry and very hot with a fading bitter finish. Within in this small universe of fractionally frozen beers, it’s not nearly as balanced or enjoyable as the much cheaper Tactical Nuclear Penguin.

suurjuust (603) - ESTONIA - AUG 12, 2012
Hazy red, no head to speak of. Nose is raisins, wood, spice, alcohol. Taste has a more pronounced raisiny character, but with burned wood notes, licorice, malt, sugary sweetness. Ends with a big hoppy bitterness and lots of alcohol. Sticky mouthfeel, syrupy palate. Interesting but not perfect.
