COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Sink the Bismarck! is beer, amplified. With the volume turned full up, it is important you that you be careful with this beer and show it the same amount of sceptical, tentative respect you would show an international chess superstar, clown or gypsy. Sink the Bismarck is a quadruple IPA that contains four times the hops, four times the bitterness and frozen four times to create at a staggering 41% ABV. This is IPA amplified, the most evocative style of the craft beer resistance with the volume cranked off the scale. Kettle hopped, dry hopped then freeze hopped for a deep fruit, resinous and spicy aroma. A full out attack on your taste-buds ensues as the incredibly smooth liquid delivers a crescendo of malt, sweet honey, hop oils and a torpedo of hop bitterness which lasts and lasts.

UPDATED: NOV 6, 2011 Hazy orange red pour. This stuff burns like hell but i’ve had worse. Intense malty aroma. Lots of caramel and of course tons of alcohol. Lots of sugar. Really just syrup and alcohol. Some grain and alcohol, but really nothing but sugar and booze. I had about a 1.5 oz pour and I could barely finish it.

Caramel colour, no head. Very hoppy aroma, lots of alcohol, reminding of wood, vanilla, varnish. Flavour sweetish alcohol, hops, wood, reminding of young whisky. Interesting as an experiment. Insane beer.

Appearance: Pours a clear, dark amber-hued body. It’s still, but check out those legs.

Smell: Lacquery, quick-drying wood varnish, some perceived earthy hops, some caramelized sugars, but it’s quite sharp and quite painful.

Taste: Rasping hop bitterness and coarsely fusel akin to a poisoning sip of rubbing alcohol. A beer that quickly leaves you flustered and out of patience (and money).

Mouthfeel: It’s hard to distinguish the viscosity of the beer as your mouth starts writhing the instant it hits your tongue.

Overall: Unenjoyable and undrinkable. A proudly gimmicky, unnecessary beer at an equally obscene price.

Doft: Sprit till en början, sött fruktigt, chili Färg: Rostbrun, rödaktig Smak: Stark, söt och tydlig smak av chili Liknar inget annat, förvånansvärt tydlig ölsmak

UPDATED: FEB 25, 2012 Pours a dead amber color that seems very viscous. I prefer this aroma and actually found I prefer the sink the bismarck over tactical nuclear penguin. Even though the alcohol is still very prevalent, it is surprisingly drinkable.. in the recommended small amounts, obviously. Still no way it is worth the price, but fun to try.

Clear copper amber with no head. Malty sweet boozy aroma with toffee, caramel and heavy alcohol plus maybe a hint of dried fruits. Taste is sweet malty and heavy boozy with caramel, toffee and licorice and herbs. Full bodied with no carbonation. Tasty but very boozy and burning. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Pours like a scotch (i.e., thick), amber with no head. Surprising aroma of hops. No real alcohol aroma to it, just a strong resin hops. Taste of hops resin hits you like a ton of bricks. Almost puckering effect at the end. This one could kill you. If I hadn’t known, I would never have guessed 41%. Well played, BrewDog.

Well, I’m not one to brag, but this is a pretty impressive tick. Available at Plumpjack and Willow Market. Clear deep amber in color with minimal head. Viscous looking, and OMG this isn’t even a dark beer WTF! Just kidding, I’m a professional. The aroma is actually nice. Enormous hop smell invades your nose and some sweet caramel and toffee is in there as well. Rather spicy too. Oh and a bit of booze...but not 41% of booze. The flavor is like a concentrated DIPA from the east coast or a barleywine. Gigantic sweet caramel and toffee malts with an earthy hoppiness. Lots of IBUs for sure. Full-bodied as all hell with low carbonation. Not as boozy as you’d expect actually. You can feel the big alcohol warmth on the mouthfeel though. In this case, the ticker’s mantra "2 ounces is all you need" definitely applies here. You don’t want more than that. Gets harsher as it goes. But those 2oz were actually pretty enjoyable, crazily enough.
