Sink the Bismarck! is beer, amplified. With the volume turned full up, it is important you that you be careful with this beer and show it the same amount of sceptical, tentative respect you would show an international chess superstar, clown or gypsy. Sink the Bismarck is a quadruple IPA that contains four times the hops, four times the bitterness and frozen four times to create at a staggering 41% ABV. This is IPA amplified, the most evocative style of the craft beer resistance with the volume cranked off the scale. Kettle hopped, dry hopped then freeze hopped for a deep fruit, resinous and spicy aroma. A full out attack on your taste-buds ensues as the incredibly smooth liquid delivers a crescendo of malt, sweet honey, hop oils and a torpedo of hop bitterness which lasts and lasts.

Thanks Fern! Smells like petroleum, tastes not bad honestly. Kinda sweet before booze overwhelms. Caramel up front, hints of Utopias-esque notes for an instant, then turns to fire as it descends. Much better than expected, especially given my experience with Tactical Nuclear Penguin, but Utopias blows it away.

Very strong aroma. Aromas of caramel. The taste is good, not too much alcohol. The taste is of licorice. The aftertaste is left for a while. Very heavy beer drinking. It was enough 3cl at me. Drank it at Brewdog Bar Stockholm. Follow me @ Kung av öl @ Facebook for more pictures and ratings.

Sample from bottle at BrewDog Stockholm, 2 cl that cost 130 sek. (BrewDog rating 60) Dark copper with no head. Aroma of citrus, alcohol and dried fruit. The taste was sweet with alcohol, dried fruit, some malt and licorice. An interesting and crazy one.

To put it short, it tastes like an unsmoked whiskey blended with a fine barley wine ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Copper orange beer with no head, some bubbles. Leaves angels tears on the glass. Deep caramel, syrup and ripe orange fruits on the nose. Mouth feel is thick and soft and full. Very nice syrup and caramel taste combined with a deep bitter finnish. Ripe sweet orange fruits again in the flavors. As a whisky drinker and an IPA lover I am just so excited about this drink! This is a truly pleasant surprise for me. I love it! It’s just so unique and exciting.

Bottle to shot glass... Clear, woody brown....no head...this is no environment for fragile foam to exist in.... Aroma is fermented apple, caramel, hot pepper.....not subtle. Flavour is woody, dark agonized fruit, raisin, rum. Very pronounced alcohol sting.....burn. Sweet, syrupy, orange malt....sticky....thick. Impressive heat and flavor....not just an ABV bomb......though it’s hard to ignore... Interesting and brutal...points for sheer audacity..... Whew.

Pours dark oak. Texture is very thick. Aroma is sticky of alcohol with prunes, raisins and a bit vanilla(?). Taste is sweet and smooth with dried fruit. The alcohol is well hidden in the flavours. Gives a warm feeling of happiness. This was a huge surprise. I bought it online from Brewdog when i saw they had made a new batch and i dont regret spending £40 on this bottle.

Pours cognacy in color. Aroma of vanilla, honey, liqour, sherry, grappa. Taste is very oily and sherry-like with peppery and smoky tones, honey. Very different. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle from BrewDog Shoreditch. Pours clear amber with no head. Loads of toffee and booze on the nose. To be expected really. Taste is actually quite balanced for what it is. Loads of toffee and raisin in the taste. Very sticky sweet. Not much alcohol burn which is impressive. Pretty surprisingly solid
