Sink the Bismarck! is beer, amplified. With the volume turned full up, it is important you that you be careful with this beer and show it the same amount of sceptical, tentative respect you would show an international chess superstar, clown or gypsy. Sink the Bismarck is a quadruple IPA that contains four times the hops, four times the bitterness and frozen four times to create at a staggering 41% ABV. This is IPA amplified, the most evocative style of the craft beer resistance with the volume cranked off the scale. Kettle hopped, dry hopped then freeze hopped for a deep fruit, resinous and spicy aroma. A full out attack on your taste-buds ensues as the incredibly smooth liquid delivers a crescendo of malt, sweet honey, hop oils and a torpedo of hop bitterness which lasts and lasts.

Sample from bottle, batch #910. Huge thanks jookos! Deep brown, no head. Dark fruits, soy sauce in aroma. Flavor has sweetness, soy, nuts, soaked plums. Hard to rate this, but surprisingly enjoyable.

Pre-DLD bottle share in 2014. I’m not sure why everyone rating this is saying its clear copper or amber, this thing pours deep opaque brown with no head. Aroma of booze, dried fruit, caramel, and alcohol soaked cherries. Flavor is strong alcohol at first and transitions into a heavy citrus and roasted malt finish. Eh.

Bottle at home. Clear amber body with a tiny head. It’s almost like a barley wine, lots of dark fruit like raisins, dates, figs. Light citrus. Flavour is dark fruit, raisins, figs, dates, licorice notes, burnt caramel, booze. I really love the nose, and it gets better the warmer it gets.

(backlog) Close to a 1oz pour from a bottle. Orange pour with a scant amount of head. Very dank hop aromas. Flavor is intense, closer to a hop liquor than a hopped up beer.

there is no foam or carbon dioxide in the beer. the smell is strongly hoppy, malty and strong. the taste is not surprisingly very strong alcohol, but has strong hop flavor and a sweetness which dampens shock of alcohol. They classifies itself as a Quadrupel ipa. a truly extreme beer experience. drinking only a few cl. the most surprising enough that it tastes like beer, not spirits hops

Rated on 5-23-2010 - Batch 2 - Best Before 18 03 20. This beer poured into a snifter, forms a very, very small tan head that is long lasting, hazy reddish body, and very little carbonation. The aroma is malty, heavily hoppy, very fruity, spicy, and a big alcohol aroma. The taste is sweet, fruity, spicy, heavily bitter, hops, hot, alcohol burn, and a dry finish. The palate has a warming sensation and this beer is medium-full bodied. This beer is just insane! I enjoy drinking very strong beers, but this is a bit too strong even for me. I was barely able to finish my pour.

375ml bottle. Pours a clear deep copper, viscous and with no head. It looks a bit like slightly carbonated whisky. Oily resinous hops, with orange and aniseed notes and a little roast almond make up the aroma. Whisky-like heat up front brings plenty of aniseed. Oily resin comes in next, with burnt caramel and orange in the mid-palate. Cointreau orange gives it a smooth finish. This is an interesting experience, a little like a blend of good Scotch and potent IPA. It certainly shows its strength more than Tactical Nuclear Penguin, but that means it is one to sip and savour. Nice.
