COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Sink the Bismarck! is beer, amplified. With the volume turned full up, it is important you that you be careful with this beer and show it the same amount of sceptical, tentative respect you would show an international chess superstar, clown or gypsy. Sink the Bismarck is a quadruple IPA that contains four times the hops, four times the bitterness and frozen four times to create at a staggering 41% ABV. This is IPA amplified, the most evocative style of the craft beer resistance with the volume cranked off the scale. Kettle hopped, dry hopped then freeze hopped for a deep fruit, resinous and spicy aroma. A full out attack on your taste-buds ensues as the incredibly smooth liquid delivers a crescendo of malt, sweet honey, hop oils and a torpedo of hop bitterness which lasts and lasts.

UPDATED: DEC 22, 2010 Deep amber in color with no carbonation. Nose is just awesome. Big hop aroma despite high alcohol - very surprising. Thick, chewy mouthfeel. Nice spicy hop flavor, followed by alcohol warming. Overall a great beer for one this big.

had when it was the strongest beer out there - split up a bottle 4 ways. Glad we did. A nice experience but harder to drink than say, a Utopias which is better crafted and a better sipper. This is slightly citrusy booze, resemblimg whiskey more than "Imperial IPA". Cool, but not worth the price.

This is Brewdog pushing the borders, expanding the definition of beer while remaining loyal to it at the same time. A successful experiment if you ask me. Get together with 4 good friends, get a bottle and split it to 5 glasses. Drink slowly, the way you would if the drink was a hoppy spirit. Actually, it is.

The aroma is clearly alcoholic but also a little flavor of peach and orange. The taste is heavy, very strong and spicy with a fruity hops. The very long finish and heats the mouth with a brash alcohol. It is completely impossible to compare with beer, it has little in common with beer other than the ingredients. Still it is exciting, tasty and delicate. Perhaps it can be served in limited quantities on a fishing trip or a hunting party. But it was exciting to try it.

Shared bottle@Brewdog, Helsinki. Copper color, no head. Strong piny hop aroma, alcohol. Strong, bitter herbal flavor with aniseed. Medicinal alcohol reminiscent of Unicum. Very full body, no carbonation. Disappointed: I enjoyed Tactical Nuclear Penguin, but I wouldn't buy this again.

Reddish amber color, almost no foam. Powerful aroma of ether, acetone and alcohols, malt, dried fruits and raisins, dried pears, figs. Taste: burning, spiritus, pepper, sweet liqueur, dried fruit, dried apricots, whiskey. Spiritus Sancti!

Nip in Edinburgh ... Basically a Quad IPA liqueur ... Lovely rose color... No head at all. Prominent alcohol nose... Super concentrated hop notes... Moderate legs... Full flavored, long bitter dry finish... Almost a single malt with hops to finish ... Very unique and interesting beer... ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

On tap at Brewdog Bristol -- given as a 25mL pour into a snifter. This is beer in liquor form. Hops are concentrated but not harsh. The alcohol is concentrated but not harsh. An intense beer throughout. Quite the experience.

Small sample from my own 375ml bottle. Clear syrupy amber / maroon with no head. Full complex body with no carbonation. Quite sweet and bitter. Pine, malts, caramel, lots of booze (of course), apricots and some licorice. Amazing that this still tastes like an IPA!

An imperial ipa, no it’s a spirit ! Although there are hop notes, it’s the sweet candied booze that dominates. It’s an experience !

malt, alcohol very very faint whiff of grapefruit, mahogany colour with no head, just tastes like a whiskey hints of cherries with the malt and harsh alcohol overtones, burn in the finish. but you didnt really come here expecting a decent flavour did you?
