Plastic corked bottle. Dark brown color with a hint of purple. Chocolate, raspberry and a hint of licorice in the aroma. Slightly tart raspberry flavor with malt, salt, licorice, and just a hint of whisky. The flavor is there, the complexity is there, but the balance is lacking.

UPDATED: MAR 4, 2011 Bottle. Dark black color, no head. smells of figs, cherries, chocolate and toffee. Taste is oily with a mild hop bite. Almost like an old ale or american strong. Very good nonetheless

Bottle 359/1060. Pours black with a small light brown head. Aroma has so much raspberries up front. Very strong and fresh raspberries. Behind that, there is malt whisky, raspberry jam/candy, marzipan, raisins, chocolate with raspberry nibs. Taste is all about the raspberries as well, highland whisky, caramel, raspberry jam, sugar, vineous sweet figs and raisins. Nice experiment. 2-27-11

UPDATED: OCT 18, 2011 This is a very funny "American Strong Ale".. Pours black with a brown head. Aroma is huuge Raspberry along with some jam, marzipan, a bit alcohol/whiskey and some raisins. Taste is also huge rasberry and add some vinous notes. The marzipan/candy feel is also chillin’ in tha taste..

Bottle from Beer Ritz, Leeds. Shared with Slothez. The label on this bottle was an excellent piece of art, worthy of mention and certainly worth hanging on to. As for the beer itself, it was a big ol’ gusher and poured a very dark brown nigh on black colour, with a light brown tinged head. The aroma was quite boozy, but still impressive with plenty of earthy raspberry, whisky, chocolate and a hint of smoke. Taste wise this was along similar lines to the aroma, quite sweet with some tartness and woody notes. The fruit on show here is what really defines and makes this beer tick though, and as someone who enjoys raspberries this had a huge amount going for it. Great stuff.

Bottled. A pitch black beer with a huge lazing dark brown head. The aroma has strong notes of alcohol and raspberries as well as medium notes of roasted malt and whiskey. The flavor is sweet with notes of roasted malt, whiskey, raspberries, alcohol, and wood, leading to a dry, roasted, and woody finish. The alcohol leaves a burn on the palate. Thanks yespr for sharing.
