4.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
375ml bottle. Pours an opaque black, with no head, but with viscous legs. The aroma is a potent blend of Vegemite, soy sauce and hot alcohol, with fortified wine and smoky Scotch notes coming through. A faint muscat flavour up front is overcome by herbal hops and peaty Scotch whisky. Bittersweet dark chocolate and savoury soy sauce come in at the mid-palate, with luscious sweet muscat at the finish. There is warming alcohol aftertaste, mixed with herbal hops. This is a very interesting one. I have always liked the bombastic lunacy of BrewDog, and this is a prime example. It feels more like a fine whisky or fortified wine than a beer as such. It presents a curious blend of sweet, savoury and boozy, that overall works very well. Nice stuff.

Shared a bottle with friends. Deep brown almost black pour with a nonexistent head. Powerful aroma, alcohol and vanilla. Tastes is coffee, dark chocolate, vanilla. Alcohol content is present throughout the whole experience. Definitely a sipper not a gulper.

This is a heavy thick beer, you can taste the whiskey flavors, more similar to a fine port, if i had the money I would drink it in a port glass or brandy balloon after every meal. Tasty, strong and warming.

From bottle #908. Wow, this is a huge beer, well it’s kind of a beer. Huge very complex aroma that hints at how intense the flavours will be, but it lies, this thing grab you by the throat. Pours and looks like a port, thick with no head. The alcohol is very warming, ultra rich flavours keep changing as you sip. Its not an everyday beer but I liked it a lot.

The aroma is so fantastic I’m enjoying it with every sip. Very thick, tasty, and it definitely has a strong Scottish whiskey taste. I’d love to have a small glass every day but unfortunately the price tag won’t let me do this. Well done to the brew dog boys.

4.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 20/20
When I tasted it I wasn’t so sure that it’s an ale. More like Irish Whiskey. Woody, smokey. Incredibly tough brew - more like Incredible HULK of the craft beer :D Warm feeling afterwards, more like hot.. licorice aftertaste.
Although when I get to know the price - I was shocked. It’s way too expensive. But I’m glad I tried it once.
I loved it but I still don’t think that it’s an ale..
