Commercial Description:
Cask & Bottled;
A historically accurate beer based on the recipe devised on the 8th of February 2007. Recreated using the finest coloured malts which provide the complex sweet malt character which initially arouses the senses. Like a fine cheese cake the biscuit base has a smooth and creamy layer that both satisfies and entices. Culminating with a delicate fruit topping of blackcurrant and tinges of citrus to refresh the participant, complimented fully by the crisp dry bitter finish.

Pours a deep amber colour with a beige head. Aroma of sweet malt, caramel, raisins and earthy hops. Flavour of sweet malt, caramel and dark fruit. Rather light bodied and hoppy bitter finish.

Bottle at The Rake, "What company Christmas party?" session, 4th Dec 08. Mid amber and suprisingly still. Soft malt aroma. Fudgy malt and then a spreading hop bitterness to balance it. Good finish that shows off the varied hop flavours. Enjoyable stuff.

Nice hazy deep amber coloured body with a ruby tint and a perfect-sized tan head. Aroma of malt, raisins, nuts, pit fruit and a decent amount of alcohol. Medium-bodied; Strong effervescent feeling up front with a lot of malt, some nice sweetness and quite a hop finish. Aftertaste shows a lot of malt and a decent amount of nuts - all with caramel really coming out. Overall, a good amber - definitely one of the best I’ve had from this style, but it doesn’t surprise me from this brewery - I do really enjoy their beers. I sampled this 33 cL bottle purchased at Willow Park Wines & Spirits in Calgary, Alberta, Canada on 01-January-2009, purchased a few days earlier.

Bottle from Rumbles, past best before date :( Light red in colour with creamy off white head. Burnt peat flavours finishing with bitter citrus mouthfeel.

Bottle: Poured a light clear amber color ale with a small bubbly head with minimal retention and no lacing. Aroma of dry and bitter hops with some English dry malt. Taste is also a mix betwen some dry malt with some slightly dry and bitter hops. Some presence of caramel malt would have brought sweetness to offset some of the dryness. Carbonation is almost non-existent with a light body. Not the most interesting beer out there.

Bottled. Malty with with flavours like a tea cake with sultanas and a nice warming bitter finish. This is one of the best amber ales I have had
