Commercial Description:
Cask & Bottled;
A historically accurate beer based on the recipe devised on the 8th of February 2007. Recreated using the finest coloured malts which provide the complex sweet malt character which initially arouses the senses. Like a fine cheese cake the biscuit base has a smooth and creamy layer that both satisfies and entices. Culminating with a delicate fruit topping of blackcurrant and tinges of citrus to refresh the participant, complimented fully by the crisp dry bitter finish.

A beautiful amber brown beer that was only let down by the lack of retention with the cream head that produced. The nose of malts, caramel and toffee with a slight hint of burnt berries. The taste was initially of malts which is followed by notes of toffee, roasted caramel and blackcurrants. Excellent beer, highly recommended for any fan of Scottish beers.

Bottle. Pour is an orangish amber with a rather large and fluffy head (off-white). Aromas are floral and fruity hops with a bit of a bready malt presence. Flavor is an interesting mix of the above with just a touch of pine/resin that makes itself known in the finish. At times it seems a bit watery, but at other times it comes off as full enough for me. I think this is due to the somewhat thin mouthfeel and the underwhelming malt presence, but all in all, it’s pretty good. No where near good enough to justify the price here in the states, though. (I paid $7 for a bomber, but that was on sale... down from $11 or something like that).

Bottle from Ledgers. Light amber color with a decent off-white head, which does a bit of spectacular lacing. Aromas of bread and fruits. Tart citrus as the glass approaches the lips. Medium body with creamy carbonation. Flavors are amazing. Biscuit, stone and berry fruits, and lots of floral hop. Almost burns my tongue. Not a DIPA, rather a really brilliant* ESB. Amber a.. my a.. bloody brilliant beer states the label

(bottle) light amber/dark gold with generous white head and nice lace. Floral/herbal aroma. Bready malt, hints of fruit, and a nice floral/citrus hops finish. A really solid amber ale.

Bottle and served in my NB Worthy glass: Deep amber hue with a frothy head and very good lace. The aroma has notes of caramel, toffee, rye bread, hint of marzipan, grassy herbal hops, a some pear esters. The taste starts with a mild bready malt and yeasty character supported by a moderate hop bitterness and bite. Honestly not a lot of depth of palate after the hops. The mouth feel is sharp and lively, chalky finish. The beer starts well but seems to get muddled and unfocused after a while. Considering the cost I will not buy again. Within the style you could do worse than try it once.

Tasting - Perfect Pour. Orange, thin white head. Nose held soft elements of milk chocolate coated grapefruit and hints of toasted caramel grains. Moderate floral citric bitterness balances on a light sweet caramel backbone. A touch of fruitiness round this out well. Light to medium bodied, soft carbonation, bitter finish. Nice for sessions if not for the price tag...

In bottles at the Kensington Wine Market in Calgary, AB. Pours clear copper-amber, moderate beige head with a little bit of retention. Delicate aroma of sweet mash with hints of caramel and yeast. Flavor starts quite sweet and ends with a noticeable hop spiciness that develops into a very long and peppery finish. Fairly rich mouthfeel, good carbo that doesn’t overwhelm. This was a very pleasant surprise; my reaction to North American Amber Ales has been very ho-hum in the past but the Scots seem to know a thing or two we don’t.

This bottled brew from Indianapolis, IN poured a small sized head of foamy mostly diminishing finely sized tan colored bubbles that left behind a transparent amber colored softly carbonated body. The mouth feel was strongly tingly and crisp from start to finish. The aroma was of mild malts and dough bread. The flavor was simply hoppy and malty.
