Commercial Description:
Cask & Bottled;
A historically accurate beer based on the recipe devised on the 8th of February 2007. Recreated using the finest coloured malts which provide the complex sweet malt character which initially arouses the senses. Like a fine cheese cake the biscuit base has a smooth and creamy layer that both satisfies and entices. Culminating with a delicate fruit topping of blackcurrant and tinges of citrus to refresh the participant, complimented fully by the crisp dry bitter finish.

Simple amber. Something to open in between the gems imadeadguy was pulling out. Some caramel flavor. Not bad.

Cloudy amber. Small, soapy head. Aroma: Caramel, fruit. Flavor: Same with grassy hops and earth. Dry, bitter finish. Nice beer. Chock one up for the Scotties.

Let’s see what BrewDog considers laid back. Bottle from Beer Run in Charlottesville, VA. Batch 1, and just like maniac’s bottle from the same place, dated 01/01/0-something. Pours a slightly hazy orange amber color with a one finger head. Good head retention and lacing. Malty aroma with caramel, citrus and other fruits. Taste is leafy, citrus hops, berries and caramel malts. Medium bodied. Fairly nice.

Bottle from Beer Run on 05/15/2009. Batch 001 dated 01/01/08(or 09) Somewhat hazy amber body with a medium frothy off-white head. Pale english malt aroma with some earthy and floral notes. Bready and biscuity flavor with more english malt background and a bit of floral and earthy hops and a bit of a caramel background. Medium body with moderately low carbonation.

Batch 001 shared with maniac. Hazy dull copper with thin ring of off-white head. Aroma is a bready apple with a light citrus note and sweet belgian yeastiness. Flavor is toasty malt with a slight hop bitteness. Chewy body that leaves an oily coating in the mouth. Considering the price, certainly not worth it.

22 oz bottle poured into shaker. Sunset orange color with light carbonation and a thin off-white head. The aroma is dominated by bread dough, but there are berries there as well. The mouthfeel is quite watery. The flavors consist of raw sugar and berries up front, followed by a caramel flavor that is eventually obliterated by a bitter citrus & pine finish. I have two issues with this beer. 1) the watery mouthfeel detracts from the overall experience. 2) the hops don’t compliment the sweetness, making for a disjointed brew.

It pours a hazy amber beer with a small beige head. Rhubarb in the nose. Some balance between malt and hops. Apple bitterness. Plastic in the finish. Mediocre.
