Commercial Description:
Cask & Bottled;
A historically accurate beer based on the recipe devised on the 8th of February 2007. Recreated using the finest coloured malts which provide the complex sweet malt character which initially arouses the senses. Like a fine cheese cake the biscuit base has a smooth and creamy layer that both satisfies and entices. Culminating with a delicate fruit topping of blackcurrant and tinges of citrus to refresh the participant, complimented fully by the crisp dry bitter finish.

330ml bottle. Thick and cloudy looking when poured. Mild hop aroma with a strong bitter flavour at first but some sweetness comes through as you drink. Long aftertaste.

Pour is a hazy brown with a large foamy head. Aroma is lots of sweet malt with a little hoppyness in there. Flavor is some caramel malts with some brown sugar and finishes with some oily hops. A decent amber and you can tell a lot of effort goes into these beers from the brewer. Way overpriced for what it is but i did find this on sale and that puts it over the top.

Hoppy/malty nose, dark amber, tiny copper head. Taste is a toasted malt, caramel. Very well balanced, very good example.

Bottle. Light amber body with a small sudsy, head that leaves some nice lacing. Aroma is light citrus and sweet malt. Flavor is toffee and caramel, fruity, followed by some decent citrus bitterness. Very soft mouthfeel but also thin and a bit watery. A little different take on things and not bad.

easy to drink, seems heavy for an amber, citrus/hop aroma that is well blended, caramel/vanilla flavor [1 pint 6.4 fl. oz. bottle, poured into pint glass, batch 001, best before 01/01/09, drank 03/31/09]

Bottle (330ml). Poured clear amber with an averaged sized, dense, frothy, off-white head which lasted well. A good tropical hop aroma with strong notes of grapefruit, pineapple, nectarines, toffee malts and some piney notes. Flavor was a medium fruit hop bitterness with passionfruit, nectarines, biscuity malts, caramel and a dry/piney finish. Light to medium bodied with soft carbonation, a dry mouthfeel and a decent length finish. Decent session ale.

500mL bottle, BB 8/8/09. Poured slightly hazy apple juice yellow with not much going on for head. The aroma was odd and not at all pleasant with peaty smoke and rotten fruit over a pale malt and caramel base.. sour overtones.. yikes! The flavor unfortunately was no better.. slick caramel at the core with sour liquid smoke and some vegetal notes around.. finished ugly, picking up apple bitterness. Light-bodied with little carbonation on the palate.. sharp and unpleasant on most facets of the drink.
